Delighted to receive a planting design award for the Eternal Garden project, a palliative care garden at awarded by in their awards 🥇 This very special garden provides a tranquil green retreat during end of life care at St Peter’s Hospital where patients and their loved ones can be soothed by nature away from the clinical environment of the hospital wards 🌿With gratitude and congratulations to all involved at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals, the Friends of St Peter’s Trust

Despite the current drought in the Southeast the wildflower meadow areas on our recent project with and are looking amazing, this is a native mix for sandy soil with a select blend of flowering perennials and meadow grasses. These meadow areas in place of just mown lawns add diversity, wildlife habitat, nectar, seeds, structure, display and seasonality while connecting to the landscape beyond, so are well worth the establishment input 🌿

Throwback to RHS Chatsworth Flower Show 2019 where I created ‘Space Within’ a meditation garden in the Mindfulness category with a calming and biophillic theme 🌿 This DesignBoard decking is made of rice fibre and was the perfect colour and texture for a small destination space near a water element 🌿 The garden was lush and peaceful and went on to win Gold, best in category and Peoples choice awards 🌿✨

On what would have been RHS Hampton Court Flower Show week I'm looking back at my first show garden at Court Flower Show in 2015🌿 'HUG' - Healing Urban Garden was designed to provide a sensory hug within a small urban space. A calming colour palette was combined with scented plants and the bespoke designed sculptural 'HUG bench' was positioned within a curved wall next to a soothing water bowl. The garden was sponsored and built by Living Landscapes, won a silver gilt medal and was a fantastic creative experience 🌿✨✨It was a garden which showed what could be achieved in a small space with careful combinations, and images of it are still being shared far and wide in books, magazines and on Pinterest and social media ✨

Lovely to the the ‘Slice’ bench again 💚 I designed this sectional solid timber bench for the RHS Space to Grow garden I created with Living Landscapes at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2018. The Living Landscapes team skilfully carved two of these benches from a single Douglas fir trunk sourced locally in Sussex. The benches can be separated into 3 seats each, they were much enjoyed by visitors on our garden during the show and were sold on at Architectural Plants.
Designing bespoke features and furniture for projects is something I always really enjoy doing 🌿🌟

This time last year my 'Space Within' was created as a biophilic meditation space for a moment of calm within nature, much needed in our hectic modern lives 🌿 We have all appreciated our outdoor spaces more than ever lately and a pocket oasis like this can provide a wonderful place for retreat 🍃 The garden won a trio of top awards ✨ Thanks as ever to Gareth Wilson Trace Johnson and all the other total superstars who were involved in this most enjoyable garden 🌟🌟🌟🍃🌿 Rae Wilkinson Design
