This Prada bag arrived at Sneakers Prep with severe damage, including ripped side panels that looked beyond repair. Instead of writing it off, we took on the challenge.

Sometimes a restoration pushes us to develop new techniques, refine our craftsmanship, and solve problems we’ve never faced before.

Second Step wasn’t born from a business idea.

It started with a little girl.

Sarah was driving home one rainy afternoon when she spotted a little as girl walking home from school. One of her school shoes had completely given up. The sole was hanging off, flapping with every step she took through the rain.

As a mum, Sarah couldn’t stop thinking about her.

Her socks were probably soaked through. Her feet must have been freezing. And all because she didn’t have a pair of shoes that could keep the rain out.

That moment stayed with us.

Every day, we clean and restore shoes that people thought were beyond saving. We see just how much life is left in pairs that would otherwise be thrown away.

Then Sarah read something that made us stop and think.

Around 90,000 pairs of children’s shoes are sent to landfill in the UK every year.

Perfectly wearable shoes are being thrown away while some children are walking to school in footwear that no longer protects their feet.

That’s why we created Second Step by Sneakers Prep.

Our mission is simple: no child in the UK should be without appropriate footwear, while also ensuring that good shoes aren’t sent to landfill unnecessarily.

If you have children’s shoes in good condition that your family has outgrown, we’d love to give them a second life.

And if you’re a school, nursery, charity, community group, or any other setting that would like to be part of the Second Step scheme, we’d love to hear from you too.

Happy Anniversary to the dream team behind Sneakers Prep! 🥂🩵

Three years ago today they two tied the knot, and what a busy three years it’s been.

They’ve been raising kids, running Sneakers Prep, and somehow managed to juggle it all (with plenty of coffee along the way ☕😂).

It’s definitely not always easy, but they make a damn good team.

We’re lucky to have two people who care so much about the business, their customers, and their family.

Hope you both get to put work aside for a bit today and celebrate properly. You deserve it.
