Today two young boys aged 15 years old, popped into my shop.
One asked for his feet to be measured.
Apparently it was a practical joke, asking me but I ignored this and took it on board.
Just to give a heads up he likes playing football.
The outcome:
1) He was wearing the incorrect footwear and the wrong size.
2) Asked him to stand straight, toes pointing forward, this he found very uncomfortable and I pointed out that his knees were turning inwards.
3) The practical joke was no longer a practical joke.
4) His friend now is intrigued and says to him I can see what she is talking about.
5) I asked if he had back trouble, looking at me at me in disbelief, whispered yes. Then ask hips too. He nods yes. I advise that he does exercises.
6) He now realises this practical joke has become serious. So then he asked "What exercises can I do? Can you show me?"
7) I explained and got him to demonstrate, which he does. He struggles I correct him. Then his friend says "we do that at football, she is really good."
8) I offer him my loyalty card and ask him to let his parents know and if he requires any more help.
9) At this point he looks all sheepish, slightly embarrassed, feeling like quite small. Considering he was nearly 6 foot.
10) Me, I thank him for asking me. Both then responds thank you and walks out.
11) I over here. She's good, gotta let my mum know. The other, I should have asked her to measure me. 😆 🤣 😂.
12) The moral of this story his practical joke helped him identify issues which he was unaware of.
