The next prompt is ‘Trial and Error’
And I slightly struggled with this one!! Of course I make mistakes and try things that don’t work but I generally don’t document my errors. I just try to learn from them and try a new way of succeeding.
One thing I am learning that requires a lot of trial and error is designing my engagement & wedding rings with CAD (Computer Aided Design). It gives my customer a very clear and precise picture of how their ring will look. They can even try on a 3D print of the ring so adjustments can be made before full commitment.
BUT it’s a very difficult thing to learn. It isn’t coming naturally to me so it’s taking a while, which is very frustrating to me. I have the help of a third party company, who do my renders for me at the moment so I already offer this service. I would just like to bring it in house - and I’m working on it!
So if you have any particular ideas for your engagement ring, get in touch! I’d love to make them a reality for you ❤️

Today’s prompt (yesterday, apologies I’m a day late!) is ‘Behind the Scenes’.
All Chez Bec jewellery and hairpieces are made by me. I’ve tried to show snippets of the making as well as the machinery used. I have an engraving machine so can do personalised charms etc.
I also present my work in Hylands House on their wonderful showcase days. These days are perfect to come along and see this stunning venue full of fantastic stockists all set up to show you how they would make your big day extra special.
I’m also always working in the background looking at new ways to make sure I can make my pieces bespoke to you. Whether it’s a special colourway (see the green crystals set I made) or unusual pearls, I’m always on the look out.
There is so much that goes on in the background around the actual jewellery designing and making. And I love it all!!! What a job to have ❤️.

I thought I’d take part in this month. It’s a good way to remind people as we head into wedding season, who I am and what I do, especially as I’ve been a bit quiet on the socials.
So today is ‘About You/brand’
I’m Tanya. I’m a jeweller, always have been and always will be. I’ve been obsessed ever since I can remember. My mum was supportive from day one by setting me up a little space when I was probably 8 or 9. I had no idea what I was doing (no internet to help) so for my 13th birthday she took me to the Bead Shop in London, they did a demo and I was off - I was selling my work aged 15 to teachers and my mum’s work colleagues.
I obtained my BA (Hons) in jewellery from Middlesex Uni in 1993 and became self employed the day I left. i purchased Chez Bec in 2017 and have loved every minute.
It’s been a bumpy, scary, uplifting, fabulous, eye opening, inspirational, adrenalin fuelled 32 years and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Fast forward to today, I have my wonderful studio and showcase on the Hylands Estate and am part of a lovely community of creatives in the converted stables.
I sell my jewellery online, through my shop, at shows and through various bridal outlets nationwide. As well as my bridal business, I also have a contemporary jewellery business called .
I love working with my brides to create bespoke looks for their big day. I’ve recently launched my VIP bridal jewellery making workshops and ‘Make your own wedding rings’ sessions, which are proving to be popular and I love hosting them!!!.
On a personal level, I’m very lucky to have the support of a wonderful husband. Honestly, there’s no way I could have succeeded in juggling my businesses and parenthood without his unwavering help. He’s my rock! And I am an immensely proud mum to a 21 year son.
What else should you know? I love travelling when I can, visiting places of historic interest, roaming around country houses & gardens, the decorative arts and chilling with my family. I love and admire my fellow creatives and buy handmade whenever I can.
That’s me. ❤️
