Following on from my last post, so many of you commented that you never realised how much goes on behind the scenes of a small creative business.
The truth is, creating the hats is only one part of what I do.
A typical week can include consultations with new clients, FaceTime calls discussing ideas and colours, veil fittings, sourcing materials, answering messages, replying to emails, updating orders, packing finished pieces, organising deliveries, photographing new designs, posting on social media, bookkeeping, ordering supplies, and yes… even hoovering the studio floor covered in feathers!
There isn’t a large team behind my brand.
It’s just me.
Every enquiry is answered by me. Every consultation is done by me. Every design is sketched by me. Every feather is cut by me. Every fitting, every adjustment, every photograph, every parcel that leaves my studio has passed through my hands.
When clients receive their finished piece, they are receiving something that has been nurtured from the very first conversation right through to the final carefully wrapped box.
The reality is that running a small business often means working hours that most people never see. Early mornings before the messages start arriving. Evenings spent finishing commissions. Weekends catching up on admin. Late nights when inspiration strikes and a new design simply has to be created.
It can be exhausting, but it is also incredibly rewarding.
Because every order placed, every consultation booked, every kind comment shared and every client who chooses to support my business allows me to continue doing what I love.
So if you’ve ever wondered who’s behind the emails, the social posts, the consultations, the designs, the fittings, the packaging and the feathers…
It’s me. Wearing all the hats whilst making the hats. ✨
And I wouldn’t change it for the world.
