The art of feather layering šŖ¶
Every feather-layered creation begins long before the first feather is placed onto the hat.
It starts with carefully selecting the feathers, washing and preparing each one, and then grading them individually. I study their shape, size, texture and movement to decide which feathers will work beautifully togetherāand which are just right for the design.
Then the intricate layering begins.
Each feather is positioned by hand, one by one, gradually building depth, texture and movement across the hat. This stage takes hours of patience and precision, as every layer must flow seamlessly into the next.
Finally, the feathers are carefully brushed and guided into position, ensuring they sit perfectly and the finished piece has that wonderfully soft, flowing appearance.
Itās a slow and meticulous process, but these unseen hours are what transform individual feathers into a truly unique, wearable work of art.
