Christmas dinner is being planned this week, in venues with the windows still open.

It surprises people that festive linen enquiries start in late August. Then you look at how
December actually falls. Most parties land on the same dozen or so evenings, mainly the Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays in the middle of the month, and every one of those tables needs dressing at the same time.

Our team works to a rhythm through those weeks. Linens are checked, laundered, pressed and packed for named dates, so that a venue opening its doors on the second Friday in December has exactly the colour and the drop it asked for. That rhythm is what makes the season feel calm from the outside.

The colours people want in December are lovely and few. Deep reds, forest green, warm golds, cream, royal blue and the soft browns of cinnamon and cocoa. Cream and white hold out longest because we stock them deeply. The richer shades go early.

Long before the first guest arrives, someone is walking the room, straightening tables.

Matchday hospitality, conference lunches, awards evenings and end of season dinners all happen in the same building, often within days of each other. The teams behind them work to a tight schedule.

Our part is a simple one. Fine table linen, laundered and pressed to a consistent standard, delivered ready for the room to be dressed.

The best compliment we receive is that nobody at the event thought about the linen at all.

Every cloth that leaves us has been hand-checked and pressed, then packed by event so it arrives sorted the way it will be used. After the occasion, the linens go into a pre-labelled bag and travel back to our Cheltenham laundry, where they are laundered, checked, pressed and returned to the collection, ready for the next table.

Red wine and everyday dining are what our fair usage policy is there for. A cloth that has simply been dined on carries no charge.

It is a quiet sort of work, and it has been going on since 1886.

We are heading into that lovely part of the year where summer events are still going strong, but the autumn calendar is starting to fill up too. And as it does, we always see planners reaching for slightly deeper, richer colours.

Oxford Blue is one of our favourites for exactly this moment. It feels formal and confident, and it works beautifully for evening events where you want the table to look its best under softer lighting.

It is simpler than you might think.

You get in touch by phone or email. We check availability for your event date, reserve your stock, and send you a fully costed quotation within 48 hours. Once you are happy, you confirm by replying to the email. We arrange delivery to your venue, and after the event we handle collection.

That is it. No unnecessary complexity, no surprises.

A brilliant night celebrating the people behind UK stadium events.

We were delighted to sponsor the Non-Match Day Sales & Marketing Team Award again this year, presented by Paul Cook. Congratulations to Brentford Football Club and Levy UK + Ireland on taking the top prize, with silver going to Tigers Events at The MKM Stadium and bronze to Edgbaston Stadium.

These teams fill stadium spaces with conferences, weddings, dinners, and community events year-round, and it was a pleasure to see their work recognised by an independent panel of industry experts.

Our team also provided the linen for the awards evening, so every table was dressed and ready for the celebrations.

A World Cup group game, and we will be watching with everyone else.

Tournament football has a way of bringing people together, much like a well-laid table.
