So thrilled with the ‘twirl-ability’, amazing quality and gorgeous design by Edna and Jean for this completely unique dress for the little one!
This was skilfully made using a preloved shirt of my husband plus an additional secondhand shirt… mix it with an amazing sense of classic design, some seamstress magic and voila- stunning sustainable fashion at its best! 💚 👗 💃

Matchy Matchy! I love this part- colour matching, or mid-matching, finding the best solution that works for the garment, the material and the budget. Always fun!

Repairing any frayed item whether it’s a jumper, socks or in this case a rug, the method is the same!
Stop the lose threads unravelling any more by catching them and sewing them up.
You could darn them back together with a similar yarn, or as I’ve done here as it’s an item which was very far gone, you can use a needle and thread to sew up the area.

What can you do if you have a pair of trousers that keep falling down? Add belt loops!
But it doesn’t have to be a big laborious feat of turning and sewing up tiny strips of fabric- here I’ve just doubled over some similar coloured ribbon. I zigzag stitched over to give it a little more strength, then sewed on.
Another easy alternative would be to use some existing belt loops from an unwanted pair of trousers.
Re-using elements can really cut down on time in repair and alterations and save on waste too!

Dolly came back for a day for repair! After a year and half since her last ‘spa day’, Dolly needed another repair- this time her whole skirt needed replacing.
Luckily she has 2 x sisters who are able to lend her their skirts to keep her looking her very best!

Boo! 😜
Well, I couldn’t predict that 6th December would be the last time I sent an email update from TAM HQ - it’s certainly be a while! After Christmas I had to put the breaks on all of the commissions and workshops as my pre-covid career got back to full swing and at the time I wasn’t able to split my time accordingly over everything. But right now there is a little lull over the summer period which means that for 2 x weeks I will be able to take on a small amount of purely repair work.

These Repair Commissions include Darning, Patching, Felting and on both machine and hand sewing on the following dates:

W/C 1st - 4th August

W/C - 15th - 18th August

If you are looking for some repairs done over the summer please email [email protected] and we can arrange a drop off time in that week to my Chesham address, or sending items in the post. If you also email a photo and description of what you need repairing I will be able to give you an initial quote.

PLEASE NOTE: This is purely for repairs - No Alterations, Zip Replacements or other Hardware Replacements).

It’s lovely to be back for the summer and hope you’re all doing well 💕

🦓 Day 2 of and it’s a prompt that we could all probably fill ten times over (I mean every time I put my hand in my pocket and discover a hole that’s another job!)…
🕰 In Progress…
I’ve whittled it down to a garment that literally has been with TAM from the beginning. This Sainsbury’s jumper (secondhand from my mum!) was one of the first things I ‘darned’. That first darn is now underneath the large unfinished darn which will add even more colour pops to it.
The thing about mends is that they can grow as your garner too ages and each time they create a brand new look 🤩
The darning disc has been in this sleeve for over a week now, so hopefully I’ll make some more ‘progress’ on it this weekend!

💥 BACK! (Couldn’t resist!)
🪡missing regular repair with TAM but getting a big repair fix by running the each month- photographed here with and Clem at one of our first sessions last September! (The second photo on here is me with a friend at a Swish event I helped .chesham with last year - and it put a big smile on my face seeing it again :)!)
😮‍💨 a bit overwhelmed! The juggle of pre-covid work, childcare and catastrophic world news is pretty overwhelming atm- but it’s also a large reason why I want to post on here for . TAM had such fun connecting with people on here last year and I’m looking forward to doing the same again!

Hello friends, how are you? It’s been a while. What are you mending? 🤗

Hello! It’s been a little slow on here lately… ok it’s been pretty non existent since before Christmas! But we are here, enjoying coloured threads and matching yarns to darns!
Although there will be a little less content from us in the coming months as we’ve all got busy with the assortment of other work we do, so the mending and altering for TAM is starting to take a bit of a backseat currently.

BUT our aim is to continue to share practical mending tips and sustainable alternatives to fast fashion.
We’d like to expand the workshop work we do to get you confident in repairing your own clothes so keep an eye out for those.
The best thing is to head to our website and sign up to the newsletter where we will update on what’s happening later in the head and also when our repair and alteration service will resume.

As ever thanks for all the support and sending you all 💚 we love to hear from you too so do get in touch to say hi!
