Hi. I’m Sonia, the human behind our store ideas. Before 2020, I had never tried designing anything -it was only when volunteering for Macmillan Psychology Services that I first tried to put my creativity to work and designed a mindfulness booklet for patients affected by cancer. That experience not only taught me about the fragility of life but also opened my mind to exploring mindfulness, groundi

ng, and awareness. Tree hugging and nature bathing -known in Japanese as Shinrin Yoku 森林浴 - is the act of engaging with the natural world, particularly trees. In fact, there have been many therapeutic benefits associated with Shinrin Yoku since the 1980s, including creating a stronger sense of personal awareness and fostering a connection with both the human and non-human world. That’s how the name of The Tree Huggers Studio was born, and the goal is to provide high-quality products that stand the test of time, are made from 100% cotton, and perhaps remind or educate ourselves about protecting our own wellbeing -and that of others. I'm passionate about trees and the environment because my fondest memories and relaxing moments come from being in nature. I design items with animals because they are kind, cute, forgiving, and mostly uncomplicated -unlike humans. And lastly, I'm passionate about mental health because I've been studying it, both in an academic and research way, for the past 6 years. Everyone, I believe, is in need of connection and knowing they are not alone, and these Tees, totes, and stickers are designed to foster self-love and acceptance.
