Object Storytelling with Hannah.
What a wonderful Object Storytelling session we had today!
We used a selection of familiar objects and pictures from the past to see what memories they could bring back, and it really did open up some fantastic conversations.
Our residents shared stories about their parents, childhoods, family life and their younger years, giving us little glimpses into the lives they had lived before coming to Astley View. It was lovely to sit and listen to their memories, learn more about each other and, of course, have plenty of laughs along the way! 🥰
One of my favourite moments of the session was when one of our residents started reminiscing about his time playing football. ⚽️
I asked him what position he played and he told me he was a midfielder. Naturally, I then had to ask what his football nickname was…
He smiled from ear to ear and said:
“Rip.” 😂
So, of course, I couldn't resist saying, “Oh, so the coach would shout, ‘Come on, let em' Rip!’” 😂
We all had a good laugh, and it was such a lovely little moment.
That's what I love about reminiscence activities you never quite know where a simple object or question is going to take you.
Today wasn't just about remembering the past. It was about sharing stories, getting to know each other better, laughing together and celebrating the lives and experiences that make each of our residents who they are.
A truly lovely session. 💕
