What happens when Celtic knots meet marquetry and a laser engraver?

A surprisingly satisfying game of wooden Tetris.
Watch as a Celtic knot pattern is engraved into the timber before each individual piece of veneer is cut, fitted, persuaded, and occasionally negotiated into place.

Handmade, custom designed, and fuelled by patience, tea, and the occasional light tapping with a hammer.

Good lord! This piece is absolutely full of emotion! And the hardest part has been making sure my tears don't drip on to the wood and stain it!

I can't fully reveal what it is yet but I promise when you see the whole piece and understand the story behind it, you'll be as emotional as I am!!

People who know will tell you I'm not a fan of blue (for very shallow football related reasons) but I am enjoying this palette of blue metallic watercolours!

Once this has its base colours I will work on adding shading that makes the mandala appear to be made from layers of wood. And thats my favourite part of this process!

This is the last one of these I'm painting, making 7 in total. 3 have been sold over the last few months!
