Home….after a long weekend in Mallorca 🥬🍅🍎🍒. And what a joy it was. I didn’t know whether to post holiday colour or today’s gatherings of white antique ceramics for The Curated Store in Stow on the Wold so you get a little taste of both!

This time yesterday I was wandering the streets of Pollença, enjoying the sounds, sights & smells of the Sunday market. Riotous colour everywhere and a cacophony of chatter. This morning, I’m cleaning and pricing antiques for a restock of the curation in the Cotswolds! Variety is the spice of life!

If you see anything here that you like the look of, just ask as it is all available. I will be in Stowe on the Wold on Wednesday and Thursday this week ~ if you happen to be passing, I would love to see you.

Happy Monday 🍎🍓🍒🍅

Controversial?: Call me anti~social but I much prefer my antique sourcing trips when I’m on my own with no~one rushing me or asking where I’m going to put the latest treasure I’ve found. I can take hours & hours in an emporium searching the shelves and endless racks for just the right piece and I often go round three times, taking photos and videos, picking up tat to see what hidden gems lurk behind. When I go with friends or my husband or daughter, they just don’t get it, their enthusiasm wanes quickly and I’m left feeling rushed and guilty.

Am I alone in this?!

With apologies to friends & family ~ I love you dearly, just not on a sourcing trip!! 😬

Three fabulous 19th century antique finds that sold directly from Stories but are just too beautiful not to enjoy their moment in the sun.

The first two are figures by Staffordshire potter John Walton and date to between 1815-1835. They bear his distinctive signature scroll on the reverse and his ‘bocage’ foliage fronds. I particularly love the kilted gentleman holding his beloved pup.

The second is a rare find, possibly by Chelsea or Minton, although this spill vase with integrated shell-shaped salts is unmarked. Did you spot the turquoise coral embracing the vase? I love it!

A reminder that if you see a piece on my stories, it is more than likely for sale so please ask for details. You don’t have to wait for it to appear on the grid! 🩵🐚🪸🩵

We are off to my daughter’s school graduation today ~ a full day affair followed by her ‘prom’ in the evening. And we get to go too! Hoping the marquee isn’t too sweltering!! 🥵

I’m surrounded by price tickets and bubble wrap as I pick, price & pack the treasures for the July curation of The Curated Store in Stow on the Wold. It’s my fourth year there and I’m excited for a 5 week pop-up with lots of wonderful, complementary small business brands. I always end up making new friends (everyone is so nice!) and I love meeting customers in real life.

It’s a mad dash to get everything ready and practice my table set up. It might look a bit of a heap but I promise it ends up looking pretty & tempting! Scroll for a few previews of just some of the antique and vintage gems coming with me.

I also be selling a selection of TINKALINK Escape the ordinary x battery operated candles (the coral design in gorgeous pastel colours grabbed my attention!) to go with a super selection of antique candlesticks.

If you can’t make it to the Cotswolds, I will of course be sharing many of the pieces on here so keep following along. If you seen anything now that you’d like more details on, just send me a message. Everything is available.

Keep cool & carry on! Dx

🐚You asked, I delivered! 🐚The magical Edwardian Shell Mosaic game in close up and zoomable stills. I wasn’t prepared for this spectacular, whimsical piece of gaming history to be quite so popular! It sold within 4 seconds of posting and has received over 62k views, more than 1k reposts and led to more DMs asking for detailed images than I can count!

I’m happy to report that this incredible antique is off to a very good home by the sea and the lovely new owner has promised to take it to their local shell museum for their interest.

Now you can see the patterns in close up and make the designs with your own shells if you so wish. Your very own Sailor’s Valentine. Scroll along to see the six original templates.

I’m very sorry to see this treasure go but I know it will be well loved 🐚♥️🐚.

It certainly has been by all of you! Dx

..I have several 🐚🐚🐚And not just in my bathroom. They are littered all over the house where they add texture and interest as well as a hint of the seaside. 🐚

This pretty vintage shell shadow box is housed in a beautifully decorated octagonal frame. It contains 12 different shells in a green painted grid like ‘cage’. It’s glass fronted. I has fixings on the back to allow it to be hung on the wall but it would work equally well as a shelf sitter or laid flat on a dressing or coffee table.

I’m unsure of the date but it’s vintage rather than antique. Excellent condition.

Measures: 20cm approx diameter.
Price: £35 plus UK p&p £6.99

Please DM to purchase.

Time is running away with me currently as I’m lapping up days spent with my daughter after A levels, helping her plan for her graduation party and forthcoming girls’ trip to Crete. Im sure they’ll have a blast but I’m also slightly terrified, listing all the things in my head that could possibly go wrong whilst they’re there, as only an over-anxious parent can be! 😬

So, only 10 hours late posting this magnificent set of 8, 19th Century Chinoiserie side, salad or dessert plates. They are unmarked so I’m unsure of the maker but believe they could be by Williamson & Sons of Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire.

Still delightfully vibrant with their russet and blue hues and a bright turquoise glaze overlay. Superb examples of mid Victorian transfer ware and very attractive on a summer, or year round, table. Excellent condition.

Price for the set of 8: £69 plus UK p&p £8.99

Please DM to purchase (and tell me not to be so worried about my daughter’s trip!!)

Hello there 👋 Time for the bi~annual reintroduction. I’m now 5 years into this little antiques business of mine although my love for vintage has been life long. I previously worked in PR, marketing and content creation which I enjoyed hugely but plunged into making my hobby a business during Covid. I’ve never looked back ♥️

Things I love about my job:
🔍sourcing fabulous antiques. The thrill of the hunt is everything!
🏷️ researching the pieces I find. It plays to my love of history
📷 photographing the treasures. I’d love to do a course when I have more time.
🗣️chatting to customers, finding out more about them and sourcing to order. For me, instagram is all about connections, not just sales.

A few more vaguely interesting facts:
🎱I once played snooker with Simon Le Bon (I doubt he remembers it!😆)
👩🏼‍🎓I studied English at university with supplementary West African Studies
📚Apart from antiquing, I love to cook, read and go to exhibitions. I also love a quiz!
🦈I’m terrified of sharks which means I rarely swim in the sea despite my love for the seaside.
🕷️I also can’t abide spiders 😬
🖥️ I’ve been working on my website for three years. This is the year it goes live!! 🤔

That first photo above was taken in Cornwall where the light is so much more flattering than in London! 😉

Anything else you’d like to know, just ask!

Love, for now, Dx
