The latest project from my nine year old granddaughter was a lap quilt. Perfect for holding a hot plate on your knee in front of the television. Fabric was a mini Charm pack called Main Street ( available as a Charm Pack or Mini Charm Pack on the website) and it was quilted with a design called waffle weave.

When the grandchildren came to stay over the weekend, we decided to make a scrappy project. Using strips of calico, we stitched scraps of brightly coloured leftover fabric scraps onto the calico using the flip and stitch method. We then used the insulation from hello fresh boxes for the quilting and stuffing. I now have a very comfy cushion to sit in whilst I am sewing. All made from thing which would otherwise go to waste!

So I have wanted to make a quilt using the numerous layouts of half square triangles for a while now, and I’ve finally started. I’m using a layer cake from Moda called Laguna Sunrise, together with white background. I’m cutting 32 HST blocks at once from each 10” square, which means that this quilt will be made up from 1280 x 1.5” finished squares or 2560 triangles in total!! The blocks will also have sashing between them. This might take me a while!! 😀 Pictures of the patterns I will use are attached together with pictures of the fabric colours and a sneak peek at the first few blocks I have made.
