There is a change to the criteria for the Wider Service Medal:
Wider Service Medal
The Wider Service Medal (WSM) is a Tier 4 medal that was introduced in 2024. The WSM was designed to provide medallic recognition for Armed Forces personnel, MOD Civilians, contractors, and other public servants, who are engaged on operational activity that delivers a significant and direct contribution to UK objectives in rigorous circumstances, but not necessarily in roles that expose them to physical risk. To qualify for the medal, personnel must have accrued 180 days aggregated service on eligible operational activity (reckonable service may be aggregated across multiple deployments and/or operational activity). Subsequent periods of service of 180 days will result in the award of bars to the medal. A gold bar will be issued once an individual qualifies for a fourth bar; a maximum of four gold bars can be awarded. Rest and Recuperation is included as qualifying service towards the medal. Eligible operational activity must have been ongoing on 5 March 2024, with eligibility backdated to no earlier than 11 December 2018. Service eligible for the WSM will not count towards the Accumulated Campaign Service Medal as the WSM is itself a reflection of aggregated service.
