The doors to our Windsor branch opened on the 29th November 2004, then just over 12 years later we moved to our new shop in Cookham. The owner Philip Dunne has over 25 years of experience in the clothing industry. He started working in Suit Hire and Alterations, then went on to work for of Europe’s top Wedding manufacturers, a few years later he decided to open his first shop in Windsor! Cookham Formal Hire have established themselves as one of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Surrey’s premier Suit Hire companies. We stock Europe’s top Formal Wear designers of Suits and Waistcoats and are one of a handful of shops that stock both Morning Suits and Lounge Suits to hire in both classic and slim fittings. Over the past 10 years we have been very lucky to be involved with some amazing projects. In 2008 we were privileged to be sole supplier of Formal Suits to the wedding of Princess Anne’s son Peter Phillips, and Autumn Kelly. Also in the same year, Windsor supplied all the suits for the James Bond film Quantum of Solace, over 350 Dinner Suits! We also supplied suits for the Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton and regularly help our clients with functions at Windsor Castle, Buckingham Palace and Mansion House in London. 1️⃣ Air it out: Never put a worn suit directly back into a closed wardrobe or sealed plastic garment bag. Hang it in a well-ventilated room overnight to allow natural wool fibers to breathe and release humidity.

As late autumn and winter events approach, one detail gents often forget until the morning of the event is what to wear over their suit when traveling between venues or taking outdoor photos.

Phil’s 3 golden rules for cold-weather formalwear:

1️⃣ Length is everything: Your coat must completely cover the hem of your suit jacket. Wearing a short casual jacket where the suit coat sticks out underneath breaks all visual proportions!
2️⃣ Size up for tailoring: If you’re buying a tailored overcoat to wear over a 3-piece suit, ensure the armholes and shoulders have enough clearance so you aren't restricted.
3️⃣ Stick to neutrals: Charcoal, navy, or camel overcoats complement virtually any suit underneath without competing for attention.

✅ Final Try-On: Make sure you try on your full outfit (including your own dress shoes and belt) a couple of weeks before the day to ensure you feel 100% comfortable.

✅ Hang It Right: Once you pick up your hire or retail suit, hang it immediately on a sturdy wooden hanger.

✅ Designate a Pickup/Return Mate: Assign your best man or a trusted groomsman to handle returning any hire garments after the weekend so you can head straight off on your honeymoon!
