Around our beautiful home we have all manner of ‘old stuff’.

Take this little tin marked ‘Small White Buttons’ for instance - hiding inside are my dads old medals. For some reason he kept them in this battered old tin (he used the ribbons from the medals to create a ‘ribbon bar’ he would wear on special occasions and on his chauffeur’s uniform) so it’s only fitting we do the same!

So ... we’ve been a bit quiet in here of late - just ‘getting on with life’ stuff (including looking at secondary schools for one of our beautiful Bears!) and we’re aiming to change that over the next few weeks!!

Anyhoo, to kick things off ... here’s a little beauty that’s just found it’s way in to one of our Cabinets Of Curiosities!!

A ViewMaster 3d viewer along with 14 different ‘wheels’ of pictures for the delight of the person having a peep!! There are two identical small ‘slides’ within the wheel that when looked at through the viewer give a lovely 3d effect!!

Some are dated late 1940s, so they’ve been with the family a while!!

These were my dads and I remember looking through these and being amazed ... and this week our littlest Bear sat with me doing the same as I would have done with my dad!! Happy memories!!

You may know that we love books!

And here’s a beauty dug out of the garage and ready for holiday reading!! A first edition Arrow Books paperback of the classic Jurassic Park!!

I remember buying this from Stansted Airport while waiting to collect my mum and stepdad who were delayed due to fog!! £4.99 well spent!!

Happy Sunday Evening, folks!!

While digging around in the garage I came across the holy grail ... my box of vinyl!! 70s and 80s pure joy courtesy of the legend that is ...
.. Shakin’ Stevens!!

There used to be a recurring character in Viz Comic, in the Billy The Fish strip who, whenever Shaky was mentioned would always comment “I’ve got all your records!” (see the single panel from the strip!) ... and I clearly was that character.

You name it and it’s probably in my box ... 7”, 10”, 12”, promos, picture discs, shaped picture discs, ones with Christmas Cards and Advent Calendars, posters and fold out games and imports.

From the earliest recordings of the great man in his Elvis Stage Show days, through the Sunsets and, of course, at his pop peak!

From my rummage around yesterday ...
.. if you’ve followed us for a while you’ll know that we love books at HQ!! And you may or may not know that I’m a massive Star Wars fan ... so here’s a combination of vintage + books + Star Wars!! And bearing in mind some of these are colouring and activity books, only the Ewok Colouring Book has any of the pages coloured!!

A great little selection that I’ve had for a while now but as part of thinning down the collection these have found themselves a new home!!

Well, the weekend is here which means a rummage in the vintage stash to see what delights I can turn up!!

Plenty of bits to show you, but for a post-watershed offering, how about some vintage sauciness! This little ‘what the butler saw’ type gadget was my dad’s and I remember seeing the ‘naughty ladies’ in it for the first time as a kid!!

No idea how old this might be ... I suspect may be from dad’s war days!!

A vintage solution to a modern ‘problem’!!

Here at HQ we’ve been doing some decorating and in the bathroom (which now looks lush and very stylish!!) we had this bright white charging socket spoiling our lovely wallpaper!! Digging around in ‘the stash’ we found a prefect size hinged vintage tin to cover the eyesore and add a bit more style!! Finishes that corner off nicely!!

The joy of a Sunday when Dick swoops in with a box of vintage - eclectic heaven!!

On further examination - the toffee box with the rabbits on can rightly be packed off back to said garage out of fear scaring the Bears for life!!!! Anyone for toffee? I blooming well think not!!! 😳

Happy Saturday Folks!

Here at HQ we recently did some decorating in the bathroom (the whole family got involved!!) and we’ve found space for this beauty of a vintage music stand ... currently home to a cute little book that Queenie and I keep swapping the pages of!!

May be doing some garage digging again this weekend for some more vintage items to go in there! Stay tuned! Dick x

Not particularly vintage (2011), but a nice addition to the ever growing library of one of our Bears (Evie Blossom) ... you know we love a good book at HQ, and here’s an ex-library book, first edition, that presumably has been read plenty of times (there’s one ‘check/out’ receipt still in it) and this now joins a library here!! No idea if it’s any good, when it first came out I pulled an advert for it out of a magazine which I came across recently ... and it seems the kind of thing that Boo will love!! Welcome to your new home, little book! Happy Saturday, folks! Dick x
