Where it began

Whilst pregnant with my son in 2016, I was searching for some well designed, interesting baby books that would be suitable from birth to help his development. Searching online and in the local bookstores I was really underwhelmed by the books on offer. Nothing really appealed to me and I felt there was a big missed opportunity to create something special linked to the region I have

called home for the past 6 years. Where I started

After chatting with my husband, we thought we would give it a go! The first 3 books I have created encapsulate animals and wildlife from Southeast Asia, Australia and Africa, places dear to our hearts from our travels. About the Books

Each book has 12 animals native to the specific region, with the name on the left hand page. I wanted to keep it super simple, clean, but fun. Something I would enjoy looking at as much as my little boy would. Creating a Range of Products

To compliment the first book in the series, Southeast Asia, I have developed a set of flash cards. There are many baby flash cards on the market but I wanted to make these more than just images to hold up, I wanted them to be interactive and suitable for a range of ages. Sometimes it can be hard to continually think of things to chat to very young children about all day, so each animal card comes with an interesting fact or two you can read aloud to younger babies and a question or task you can ask toddlers to act out. Hopefully adults will find them interesting too! I have also created a number of limited edition prints, each showing 4 animals, that are perfect to decorate a nursery or playroom. They are designed to fit the square IKEA Ribba frames so it's easy to get them up on the wall. Giving Something Back

We strongly believe in encouraging conscious consumerism where people and planet can benefit. Which is why 25% of my profits will go directly to helping animal and conservation charities. Additionally, each book and paper product will be printed on FSC certified paper using soy ink. The long term ambition is to create a range of books and illustrations from all around the world and be able to contribute a significant amount to charity. This project is inspired by our son, Edward for whom I wanted to create fun, unique books for him to enjoy and stimulate his early development. We wish him to grow up appreciating nature and protecting the wildlife in the world around him.

Back in January I shared that my business and my confidence was rock bottom. I was stuck. It couldn’t get loads worse. I pledged to share my journey of rebuilding it from the ground up, posting about what I was doing to move the needle.

But a lot of things have gotten in the way, I have £0 to invest in more visibility and driving traffic to my website and doing this alone is so hard.

So, the little black and white book project is pretty much in the same place it was. But something else has shifted…

I realised that there’s been a huge shift in the small business community over the last 5 years. One where if you’ve got money to spend you can get ahead. If you haven’t you get stuck.

The WhatsApp groups are gone, along with the Facebook groups and the friendly camaraderie where we all helped each other out answering questions and challenges.

What I am craving is real chat with other business owners who are doing this alone. Whose level of success is earning a modest wage and paying their bills. Who love what they do and just want to get ahead.

So I’m building it. It’s called and please follow if you haven’t already. It will be a place where we can all gather and help each other out. It’ll be packed full of help and advice for those problems in the moment from people who are in the same predicament or have recently overcome it.

A bit like a mentor would talk to you over a coffee. Except this will be many mentors and you don’t have to leave the house. This isn’t a networking platform. This is a peer to peer support group.

But it doesn’t work unless there’s lots of people in it. So I need an army. An army of likeminded business owners who want to feel a bit of love and be the trailblazers for the others.

Can I find it on Vinted part one.

Adding a little something to wear as you buy your grapes might feel like a cheeky treat but have you ever asked yourself if the world needs more new clothes?

I decided when I was in Sainsbury’s today that I would take a lil video of their latest collection and see what I could find that was similar and preloved on Vinted.

The platform didn’t disappoint. There are thousands of these items available and I only picked. 4 out of the many aisles of clothing on offer.

This isn’t about saving money - although everything I found was actually way cheaper than new - this is about not adding to the mountains of clothes that get discarded after a season.

It’s about asking the hard questions of do I need it and what will happen to it once I get rid of it.

So next time you’re tempted to buy a little pick me up in the fashion aisle at the supermarket how about you take a photo instead and then have fun finding it second hand?
