We have had a busy few weeks.
We have always been a family run business with our main aim of always going the extra mile to not only help every one of our customers but also to make our retail space a welcoming place for our youngest dancers to our mature dancers, the mums and dads grandparents aunties etc.

When anyone comes to visit us we always strive to give you our utmost attention to detail, advice, knowledge, support and experience.

We are and will always be completely unbiased regardless of which dance school, college, classes you attend, that doesn't matter what does matter is the service and help we can provide.

What we offer :

♦️Attention to detail with our shoe fitting service. We know exactly what our dance schools expect from the fit and type and even which type of ribbon for exams etc.
♦️Pointe Fitting with many years of knowledge and expertise. Our absolute passion.
♦️Sewing preparation service for pointe shoes, ballet shoes etc
♦️Twice weekly ordering for anything our customers need. Order monday we receive items on Tuesday, order Wednesday we receive items on Thursday.
♦️ALL MAJOR BRANDS AVAILABLE. Need an exam leotard or uniform or that pair of shoes for a show- no problem !

Did you know we can source ALL dance wear and shoes from ALL of the major manufacturers?

Exam leotards, exam shoes professionally fitted, sewing service and preparation. We don't just have 1 or 2 styles of shoes because we recognise every fitting is different so we will try as many shoes on you as we can including wide fits to get that perfect fit !
Shoes bought elsewhere will incur an extra charge for our sewing service.

We order twice per week with next day delivery so what's not to like and our prices are very competitive.

Feeling confused or stressed let us take that away for you.

Its that sort of day!
Lots of ballet shoes to prepare for exams just the last few drying out and also 5 pairs of pointe shoes today.

Orders to get ready, tights to sort for a show on Sunday, 2 pointe fittings this afternoon, troupes planning to sort.

At least the sun is out 🤪🌞

We had the lovely Chloe today who dances at Solihull School of Dance.
Chloe was new to us previously fitted elsewhere. Chloe not only had the wrong type of toe spacers but also 2 pairs of padding because of pain in her toes !
We noticed swivel in the shanks especially the right, the shank was breaking too low which makes the toe joints knuckle through the front of the shoe, she had trouble getting over on the platform due to the front of the shoe being too high to go through demi pointe.
We started again and gave her the correct toe spacers for her, one set of padding, chose a shoe in which the shank will bend in the correct place for her arch and support her across her toes.
Notice the flat line in the old shoes and the beautiful new line to the ankle in her new ones. Smiles all round !!
Chloe will be wearing Virtisse Violette.

We have had some lovely fittings today so far.
This is the feet of the lovely Savannah who attends Freeman Dance.
Savannah was previously fitted elsewhere but always had pain in her toes and lots of cotton wool in the platform along with thick padding !
The box of the shoes were too broad for her so she was slipping into the shoes, the shank was breaking way too low so she was knuckling through the front.
We changed her padding and completely refitted. Savannah was very happy with her new shoes Virtisse Violette a much nicer supportive line which has taken away any need for extra padding !

The first of 7 pairs to prepare so far this week.

We are asked to prepare pointe shoes not fitted by us now and again and of course we will oblige.

When I see pointe shoes there are some pet hates which make me cringe !!

1) when elastics or drawstrings are pulled in to within an inch of their lives ! In a good fitting there should be no need to pull these in at all, it shortens the shoes and can make them slip off the heels. Sometimes with a narrow ankle we do need to adjust slightly but if we can help it the drawstrings are not touched.
2) A flabby piece of elastic sewed at the back of the heel in a loop.
Elastic should be nowhere near the achilles tendon but rather stitched either side in line with the heel of the shoes if you are using it and tight enough to support, of course we prefer double elastics which pull the shank in close to your heel and arch.
3) Padding with more on the bottom than the top ! Padding should be big enough to protect the top of the toes and joints but you don't need it underneath the foot. With a lot of padding on the bottom of your feet it can push your foot forward into the box ( front of the shoe) because of the extra room it is taking up we may then have knuckling of the toes and even throw you out of alignment on pointe.
4) we have seen when refitting a dancer new to us so much Padding eg; toe tubes toe spacers along with padding and even 2 pairs of padding in one case ! Usually this is because the shoe is not the correct width or the platform is too broad so the dancer has pain in the toes. We will only use what is necessary in a pointe shoe fitting, some pressure is normal pain is not !

Before we go near any pointe shoes we go through an assessment of your feet, muscle structure and alignment and discuss any injuries or issues you may have. This helps us determine what type of pointe shoes would benefit you the most.
We then try some shoes on and again go through a thorough process to make sure you are comfortable.
We won't try every brand as some will not suit your foot shape or strength and we will discuss with you why, this is why we have so many brands !
After finding your perfect pair of pointe's we then discuss care of your feet, care of your shoes, preparation advice but most do take our preparation package which includes adjustment of and tying of ribbons upon pick up.

We are booking from February 24th if you are looking for after school times. Half term week has limited availability.
