Royal Doulton first started making Flambe wares in 1904, this back stamp appeared after 1930. Flambe is a type of copper red glaze, originally from China.

There is no record of when or who invented egg coddlers, but they started to become popular in Europe in the late 19th century. A "Coddled Egg" being a popular choice for tea. Now they are collectible and I always love them, especially when they come in the original packaging!

How many stories could this set tell? How many cups of tea during its some 140 years?In the Maxine pattern from Wedgwood and Co Unicorn (Enoch Wedgwood was a distant cousin of the more well known Josiah Wedgwood) this back stamp dates it between 1862 and 1900.
