Vex is finally done!

This costume has been on the go for a while now due to various reasons but I'm really pleased to have completed the look!

Not gonna lie, I'm pretty chuffed with it!

The red robe has been a bit of a challenge to get my head around - more specifically those sleeves!

Everything has been made to fit me. I drafted patterns for it all by scratch. This makes seeing it all the way through to the final product even more satisfying!

I considered making the ruff, hat and shoes. Maybe that will materialise one day. I'm pleased with what I've done.

For those of you who don't know what character/costume this is (where have you been? Lol) it is Elder Vex from Sky 1's fantasy 'Yonderland' (2013-16). Well worth a watch if you want something silly and fun!
Picture at the end is for a handy reference 😊

Hi all 👋🏻
Recently I've found some rare spare time! It's a miracle!
I have spent some time doing a little embroidery! Something I haven't really done much of before, so this has been a bit experimental.
Any fan will recognise (hopefully ha) this as The Captain. One of my favourite characters.
The larger plan of this little bit of embroidery was to do one big project of all the characters on the show in this style - hence the shape. I have come to realise that it will take a long time to do but that'd be nice.
I've found it quite therapeutic doing this, its been quite calming.

A year ago I made a inspired shirt from the tv show .. this was going to be a one-off but I recently decided to finish off the look.
So I obviously had to make the dark red breeches to go with it! I am actually quite chuffed with these..
I made all this to fit me, and with a pattern drafted from scratch I think I did ok considering breeches are particularly tricky to make.. plus they're made out of velvet! Of course there are things I would do differently next time, I learnt a few things making these.

I have already drafted the patterns for the robes that would really complete the look but I'm hoping for the day where I will fall over the perfect fabric that doesn't cost a silly amount of money!

The last photo* shows what vibe I was going for in this look
*Apologies for the grainy photo - apparently there's a lack of photos when it comes to just the shirt and breeches ha!

While the waistcoat I made appears to be pretty plain, when worn with the coat, it works pretty well!
The buttons on the waistcoat don't match but compliment the custom made buttons on the coat.
The original plan was to add the grey lace to the front of the waistcoat too but after playing around with it I figured it would have been too much.
Pleased with the overall look!

I'm guilty of having many UFO's.. or 'unfinished objects'!

This was one of them.. an 18th century inspired waistcoat. Its made to go with the 18th century inspired coat I finished a little while ago. A picture of both will follow soon.

The waistcoat is made from silk from .. I absolutely love the colour! Its the sort of fabric that you just have to touch and smooth! 😅
I had 15 custom made buttons to sew on too which I'm pretty chuffed with 😊

Haven't done this for a little while.. pattern drafting!

Typical me, I've started something new when I probably should be finishing off some of my other projects! 🤭
Got my fingers crossed that the fabric samples I've ordered are OK! 🤞

Hi all 👋
This is a project that has been going on for a while in between other projects and work so I'm really pleased to be able to finish and share it.

This is a coat I made taking inspiration from the character ‘Prince Adam’ in ‘Beauty and the Beast’ (2017).

I drafted my own pattern after taking measurements from a friend. It's based on a mid to late 18th century men’s frock coat. I made a few toiles to get the right shape. I decided to go for a powder blue/silver theme. I also had some bespoke buttons made using powder blue silk to match the rest of the coat. I plan to make a waistcoat and a pair of breeches to match in a plain silk fabric in complementary colours, I will also use the same lace as featured down the front of the coat on the waistcoat. I really enjoyed making it and I am eager to see it all come together once the rest of the garments are made.

The lace is from Bridal Fabrics
The button, waistcoat and breeches silk fabric are from James Hare

✨New Look Website✨

Hi everyone! I have been busy redesigning my website!

https://stope-4.wixsite.com/sophietope

Feel free to go and take a look!

I have created it so that it resembles more of a portfolio of work that I have produced over the years. I will continue to add work there for people to view.
When you double tap on each image on the homepage you can view more images of the garment and some information on the project.

Take a look and let me know what you think

Evening everyone! I've been bad and haven't posted anything in a while.. oops! 🤭

I have been trying to finish some garments. But its so typical of me to start something else in between it all! So this is one of those small projects 🤪

This is a shirt I made based on a 18th century pattern. I adjusted the size of it so that it would fit me if I wish.
It comes from inspiration from the character Elder Vex in Sky 1's fantasy 'Yonderland' (2013-16) - as shown in the last picture.
I hunted high and low for fabric that was similar and I'm pretty pleased with it. It's a hand block printed fabric - nice and lightweight so drapes brilliantly.
I enjoyed making it, as usual there are things that I would make better next time but all in all I'm pretty chuffed with it 😊

Cuffs sewn on to some sleeves ready to be sewn in! Love it when it begins to come together!😊
