Tank-Stop V Vest

Special Project No 19

Made by hand in our home town of Derby, UK, using authentic work-wear, military, utility and left over “new” dead stock materials. We only rework small batches to a very high standard that are individually numbered and dated. Each piece is unique with it’s own history and story to tell.

It started with what was left behind.

Some pieces simply take longer. That’s the nature of doing things well.

Sustainability & Circularity lie at the heart of Reworked 348. With this piece, we’ve taken it a step further.

Using the leftover offcuts from our unissued 1990s Tank Crew Coverall Liners, we’ve taken what most would consider waste and found purpose for it.

There is value and beauty in what’s left behind, you just have to see it.

After creating a unique pattern in our design studio, each individual off cut is carefully cut and stitched together to create a lightweight thermal lining for this vest.

No two linings are the same. Each is a unique collage of hidden colour, design and history, making every vest its own.

Made one by one in our home town of Derby, UK, in a small limited batch and constructed on vintage industrial machines.

The outer vest is made from a lightweight, dry wax 100% cotton ripstop archived cloth in a muted deep khaki. Woven in the North of England by a mill that began weaving in the 1800s, the dry wax finish gives the cloth a weather-resistant quality.

Two classic lower liner pockets are joined by inner and outer chest pockets with profile stitching, finished with a British made quality full length two-way zip; practical, functional and ideal for styling and layering.

Nothing is rushed. Nothing is automated. Every detail is carefully considered.

A BIG thank you to everyone who has pre-ordered the Mills Compact Cotton Overshirt.

This beautiful heritage cloth comes from a mill in the North of England that started weaving back in the 1880s.

The overshirts have been cut and sewn by our friend Paul, here in our home town of Derby. Paul has spent over 40 years working in his small, family-run garment-making business.

We’re now cutting the keyhole buttonholes one by one on our 1940s Reece 101. A temperamental machine at times, but one that makes the most beautiful buttonholes.

Next stop, the laundry, where our own unique washing recipe softens the cloth, gives it that nicely broken in feel and helps prevent shrinkage during home washing.

Then we’ll check every shirt before adding the genuine English horn buttons, made back in the 1980s. We haven’t got too many of these left, and we won’t see them again.

Finally, off to the pressers and one last quality check.

We’ll be shipping the shirts next week, if you’ve had your eye on one, now could be the time..

We start with cloth that already exists, work with old school makers who take pride in their work.

All made in Great Britain, something we’re quietly quite proud of.

The Litton Wool Collection

A beautiful mid weight archived wool cloth, yarn dyed and woven in Yorkshire, Great Britain, by a mill that has been weaving heritage wool cloth since the 1800s.

A subtle combination of brown and black wool yarns creates this premium cloth, giving it depth without being too pronounced.

It can be dressed up or down and works well with most colours, including navy, khakis, beige, black and denim.

Made in Great Britain using traditional methods, with all facings and seams bound for a high quality finish inside and out.

Each piece is constructed by hand, one by one, on vintage industrial machines.

A two-way zip, made in the UK, makes it easy to wear and ideal for styling and layering.

Every detail is considered. Nothing is automated, nothing is rushed.

Mills Black Watch Overshirt

A classic Black Watch check cloth in a wool and cotton blend, with a soft handle.

A beautiful archived heritage deadstock cloth, yarn dyed and woven in Scotland.

Due to the very limited availability of this cloth, we only have a small number of these pieces available.

The shirt has a squared-off hem and is designed to be worn out, not too long, not too short, with the sleeves cut to the right length. It works just as well worn simply on its own or layered in colder times.

The one piece collar sits particularly well when the top button is done up, giving the shirt a clean, considered look. The button positioning also means it works equally well with the top button undone.

It’s an easy piece to wear and works well with navy, greys, black and denim.

There’s an outer chest pocket and a handy inner chest pocket, both finished with profile stitching and subtly secured at the stress points.

The shirt is cut and sewn in Great Britain, in small, limited batches. The quality and make are first class.

Constructed using traditional French seams on vintage industrial machines, all inner facings are taped and bound for a quality finish inside and out.

Keyhole buttonholes are cut one by one on a 1940s industrial Reece 101, with no modern automated machinery involved, then finished with beautiful horn buttons made in England back in the 1980s.

Nothing is automated, nothing is rushed, every detail is considered.

The Litton Wool Collection

Thank you to everyone who has pre ordered one of our Litton Vests so far.

We really appreciate your support as we work on this small run.

One of the reasons we started Reworked 348 was to make use of beautiful British heritage cloth that would otherwise remain sitting in a mill or warehouse, often in very small quantities.

Rather than making thousands of metres of new cloth, we start with what already exists to create something meaningful and individual.

We’re now introducing two Litton CRDs in the same archived wool cloths, one in brown and black, the other in blue and black.

Yarn dyed and woven in Yorkshire by a mill that has been weaving heritage wool cloth since the 1800s, these mid weight cloths have a subtle depth of colour that comes from the way they were woven.

The CRD works equally well over a shirt or crew neck, or underneath a jacket.

A UK made two way zip gives you room to adjust the fit when layering.

Each piece is made one by one in Great Britain on vintage industrial machines.

All facings and seams are bound for a high quality finish inside and out, with lined pockets inside and outside.

We don’t make more than the cloth allows. We make a few, because that’s what we have, and because we believe good clothing doesn’t need to be made in huge quantities.
