✨What happens when we bring AI into an existing print design workflow?

Our AI: Print Futures course is back this September, and this is very much a hands-on exploration of that question.

We start with the skills print designers already use,
bringing hand-drawn and painted artwork into Photoshop, cleaning up artwork and extracting motifs, before exploring how tools, including Adobe Firefly, can become part of the development process.

We'll experiment with generating and developing motifs, expanding artwork and exploring different creative directions, before taking those ideas back into Illustrator and Photoshop to create repeats, colourways and coordinated collections.

We'll also look at visualisation, using tools including NewArc to explore how print concepts could translate into garments and create professional, client-ready outcomes.

And, importantly, we'll make space for conversations around copyright, ethics and responsible AI use throughout.

There are some really exciting opportunities here for print and textile designers, particularly when we look at AI as another tool within a much bigger creative process.

Introducing 'Conscious Fashion Design Through Digital Innovation', a collaborative competition with Wi******er School of Art exploring how digital tools like CLO3D can support the way fashion is designed today.

The competition gave final year Fashion Design students an opportunity to experiment, test ideas, and solve design challenges digitally, helping them refine concepts and make more informed decisions.

It also encouraged students to explore more conscious ways of working by reducing waste, minimising unnecessary physical sampling, and building confidence using digital tools within both their final collection and future careers.
