Reusing past vintage hair tutorial content before I get back to work properly next week, and because I'm thinking of having my hair shorter again. It feels time for a change! This length is ideal for creating 30s style waves and curls, and here I use a mix of bendy rollers and pincurls. Part 2 coming soon.

Shipping to the US is back in business!

There are now further tariffs on top of the 10% tariff already in place. These are determined by the product classification and are calculated as a percentage. I won't bamboozle you with numbers (unless you're interested) so I'll just tell you that everything is calculated, visible, and payable at the checkout, just like it has been with the existing 10% tariff.

Some people still believe that businesses pay these fees, but no matter what your President tells you, its you, the consumer who pays them. I am sorry about it all, but all I can do is keep aware of the situation and keep updating you. Things are likely to change again soon, particularly as 25 US States are suing the administration over these possibly illegal extra tariffs.

This extra expense is going to cripple many tiny, small and medium businesses all over the world. I do hope you'll continue to be a very much valued Accessories by Pin Up Curl customer, and of other small creative businesses outside the US. 🙏

Is it going to hot again this week? Yes. Do we want our hair off our necks? Yes! Here you go, you're welcome!

Step 1 - remove the pin curl clips from your overnight set, loosen the curls with your fingers, clip the top back out of the way.

Step 2 - gently backcomb the roots of the side sections to give hold and volume, place up and over the top, pin securely. Add smoothing product as you do this.

Step 3 - brush through the back curls, part in the middle and tie one section out of the way. Plait the opposite section, secure with an elastic.

Step 4 - angle the braid over the top of the head and pin in place. Repeat on the other side. Pin any loose curls in place, spray and add a flower. And voilà, your hair is stylishly off your face and neck 1940s style to keep you cool.

Here we go again...from 24th July there will be a change to the existing 10% tariff on orders to my US customers. The 10% tariff will still exist and in addition there will be a product tariff, plus a small handling charge. I'm not sure what these will be yet until I've been able to look at it all, but I think that hair flowers will incur a 5% extra tariff. So if you order 1, a 15% tariff is applicable, buy 2, a 20% tariff gets added, buy 3, its 25%, and so on...and guess what? This could all change in September...

I'm so sorry about this, but we all know who to blame... he's a big and orange bully with a giant n arcisstic ego... I've TEMPORARILY suspended shipping to the US till I can get my head around it all and apply it to my website. In case you don't know, I'm not going to be working for a few weeks whilst I recover from surgery. When I'm back in the studio, this will be one of my first priorities to sort out.

If I bit my nails I'd be nervously biting them right now as tomorrow I get surgery to remove my gallbladder. Although to be honest, I think I'm more bothered about not being able to eat or drink tea past 5am and nothing stall after 9am! The surgeon has advised 4 weeks for recovery but I hope to be back in the studio creating beautiful pretties for you before then. I'll play it by ear and listen to my body. I probably won't post much while I'm off but I'll be around, lurking!

Orders are still very much welcome but please note that they won't be shipped till the week of 10th August.

A couple of years ago one of the most popular requests for bridal hair was the Hollywood wave - iconic, structured, immovable, glamorous, time consuming. In 2026 the most popular request from my brides has been a softer, looser wave definitely more inspired by authentic 1940s waves. And they all love a swoopy S wave front! Many of these photos are from over the years of my vintage bridal hairstyling, but they represent a trend.
