✨Things I’ve learnt as a micro business owner ✨
1. Collections will flop - I’m hoping this is because of the current economy, and not my designs! But yeah I’ve recently found that some collections just are a flop and have only had a few sales, which is literally soul destroying, but I truly in love this hobby more than anything.
2. Underpricing everything. As many other artists probably have discovered, Generally every item I’ve created is underpriced. What I mean by this is if I was paying myself minimum wage my cardigans wouldn’t probably be in the region of £200, which I just couldn’t do. I’ve had so much interest in the cardigans, but most people have asked me to reduce my prices, making my average hourly rate from £1.50 go to 70p 😅😂
3. Marketing is so confusing. Enough said! I’m generally just posting on my socials and “winging it”
I could probably have a strategy plan but I want to be as authentic as possible I’m sure a lot of other artist I feel the same way.
4. Small collections - I’ve seen so many artists releasing big collections, I’m not gonna lie I’m not that organised! I’m more of a person to do smaller collections and really focus my attention on each item rather than rushing them out.
5. Customs- Customers not paying. 😅
Okay this one is sad but I’ve had so many people enquire about customs. I’ve then made the customs then not been paid or people have changed their mind after they approved they were happy with it!
so I don’t really know what to do with them should I just list them for sale!?
Would love to hear your thoughts as it’s all a learning curve 🥰 if your a small business let me know some honest thoughts about your business!
