Good morning everyone. The warmer weather is here and the shop has been busy everyday. Stock is going fast, something we haven't really experienced like this before. We are very much in need of sunmer clothes both male and female, adult and children. If anyone has any to donate that would be wonderful. Also kitchen items, bric-a-brac etc.
It will be 9 years in September that this simple idea come to fruition. Looking back then, i could not see myself and the shop being where we are today. Helping 100s if not 1000s of people over this time, whether through the referral system we have set up, or just people we are aware of that are in need of some sort of help. We have plans for making our referral system better and to not always having to navigate your way through one of the many organisations we work with.
We will continue to try and work with all the relevant groups in Dover, but sometimes it isn't possible, through no fault of our own.
Anyway onwards and upwards. If you need help, come and see us at Help Our Town, 5 Biggin Street, Monday to Saturday 9.30am to 5pm and speak to myself or Rebekah. If we can't help we will always try and point you in the right direction.

Summers coming or going, unsure or which 🙄, but the sun is shining this afternoon at Help Our Town, you can find us at 5 Biggin Street, and the window has a beach theme summer look.
We are open 9.30am to 5pm Monday to Saturday.

Happy Saturday everyone. A big thank you post for the Royal Oak at Capel, who recently held a quiz night there and raised £206.50 which was kindly donated to Help Our Town.
This will go towards helping those that need it in whatever way through our referral scheme.

Also we are asking for donations of spring summer clothes, men's, women's and children's. We have a lot of women's ready for the coming seasons, but with our popularity 😄 and what we do, we are selling huge amounts of children's clothes on a daily basis.

To the woman and bloke who have just stolen the jacket from our shop, obviously we are aware and obviously we know your faces as our cctv system picked you up.
We do good for the community and people like yourself are a blight on the community.
If you see this post, you are more than welcome to return the coat or bring in the money for it.
If you don't, then you will be no longer welcome in our shop.

I am amazed at the amount of items that get stolen. If the legalities were in our favour we would have a large amount of photos to share online for everyone to see. But legalities say otherwise.

We are moving over to an Easter / Spring window here at Help Our Town 🐣🐰

We are continuing to get referrals through on a regular basis and will always help those who need it.

Always happy to accept donations and provide a service for our customers with quality items at a fair price. Our opening hours are Monday to Saturday 9.30am to 5pm.

A wet and miserable day here in Dover. And a quiet day here at Help Our Town 🌧🌧

A little bit of positivity, we now have our referral scheme set up with 5 partners in the area, we have Dover District Council, Dover Foodbank, Dover Deal & District Citizens Advice, Dover Outreach Centre and Emmaus Dover. Hopefully now we are position where we are able to help more people in our local area who are struggling in some way.
We are only a small conversation away from helping you or a neighbour when times are hard.

I hope everyone is having a good Monday 😊

We had 3 homeless people in the shop today (1 definitely new to the area) and was able to help them with 3 sleeping bags some pillows and a tent.
They have visited the Outreach Centre and have had there names taken. I am guessing the Outreach either don't help with these sort of items, or had none in at all.
We don't have many of these items left.
So if anyone has any sleeping bags that are good to use and small tents and would happily donate them to us, then we would be very grateful.
We are happy to go and purchase some if necessary, but thought we would see if anyone had any that are no longer needed.
