We've been asked a lot about seam allowances on our cushion panels.

The panels are designed with the seam allowance included in the design, so there are no extra white borders around the edges.

It's intentional.

When you sew with a 1/4" seam allowance, the finished size will be 15.5" on the 16" panel.

A slightly smaller cover gives a nice plump finish rather than a saggy one.

It's also beginner friendly — a small wobble in the stitch won't show white on the finished cushion. They're super forgiving!

A cushion is about the quickest thing you can make from a panel, which is why I love making so many of them at Christmas. 🎄

Here's the new lot. These ones are on super soft French velvet, though every design comes in four sizes across seven different bases.

We don't shout about this one often enough. Possibly because we're too busy cutting it. 😅

Thermoadhesive Tracing Paper. Irons on temporarily, holds while you cut, peels off clean, no residue. It speeds up cutting out more than anything else on my table.

And no — it's not freezer paper. Zero plastic, vegetable-based glue, and reusable.

I love watercolours. Always have. So this fabric collection's been a long time coming.
Watercolour Botanicals is twelve fabric designs I created — I've wanted to do a proper watercolour set for ages. It's in two colourways. Green's my fave, soft and light, the kind of thing I'd happily live with. Then there's Midnight: same botanicals, but deep and moody, purples on near-black.
I made the second one because not every room wants soft and sunny, and honestly I loved how different it turned out.
Both are up on the site now. Curious which one you like better. 🌿

Took Gabi to the mill with me last week.
She's twelve now. Stood her next to the printer, she watched a couple metres come off the roll, and got the face. You know the one. The one that says "are we finished here."

It got me thinking about how all this actually started. I learned to sew on maternity leave — just messing about, making things for her. Dresses, little tops, cushions, a duvet she wouldn't sleep without. I loved it so much I went and built a business out of it.

And she loved it back, for a good while. Mum-made was the best stuff going. Then somewhere along the line "Mum Made" went from nice to a no-no. 😭

Twelve years on I'm printing fabric for hundreds of you — and my original customer has quietly cancelled her subscription. 😅

So tell me I'm not the only one. Do you sew for your kids? Do they still actually wear it — or has yours hit the age where anything handmade gets the exact look Gabi's giving me? And if they've turned… how old were they when the makes stopped being cool?
