It is a busy dancing weekend as we head up to Oban this morning. I wish all of our Alberta dancers a wonderful Provincial selection competition. Give it your all as I know you will. Again, like I say every year, some will win and many will be disappointed. Dont let that spoil the whole experience. Look around you ,that is your community, your friends and mentors. They are proud of you. The minute you did that last step someone else, not you decided on the outcome. To the winners of the Linda Maclean memorial trophy know that it was dedicated to my friend. We met at a pipe band lesson and she had a little girl with her. I suggested she take dancing, highland. She will present the trophy on the very stage she danced on and in the same event alongside her teacher, my daughter. Linda and I travelled far and wide as young dance moms . We continued into our senior yrs doing the same thing, in upgraded hotels across European cities. To me this embodies the heart of dance ,memories, friendships, and yes loss. That stage prepares you for life . Make the friends, cherish the memories and use the losses to prepare you for greater things. I hope you make and keep the friends for 35+ yrs so you can remember the fun. So go out and have some fun Sat night as the sun will still rise and shine on Sunday. You get to do it all again.
