After speaking with a lovely gentleman from the council on saturday morning regarding the parking, airing my frustration and asking what we can do to resolve this, he recommened that the best possiable way to get any answers or anything done is if we all come together with signatures and put if forward to the council. Hopefully then they can see how this is effecting our high street and local buissneses. I spoke with karen in great length about this as she has been trying to resolve this for a long time now, and hope to work together with other local buissness and the community to try and finally be heard, and get a resolution to this problem. We would really appreciate your support with this in any way that you can π©·
Itβs a day for spitting the dummy, sorry in advance, but many of us have tried to get this sorted as individuals but I think itβs time to unite.
For years, our main street has effectively had no proper parking restrictions in place, other than disabled and taxi bays. The road markings on Argyll Street are badly worn and, in many cases, no longer enforceable, meaning people can park for long periods with little or no restriction.
As a result, we regularly see spaces occupied all day (often by staff) leaving very limited parking for customers who simply want to pop into our local shops and businesses.
This affects people who are short on time, those with mobility issues, parents with children, and visitors to the town, so often when canβt get parked will just drive to Morrisons or the Co where parking is free and accessible.
This isnβt an issue affecting just one business or one part of the street. Itβs happening right along Argyll Street and is having an impact on businesses and customers alike.
Our town centre relies on convenient, accessible parking to support local trade. The current situation simply isnβt working and, after years of delays and excuses, many of us feel itβs time for the council to address the issue properly and provide a solution that works for everyone.
We all want to see our town centre thrive, but that becomes much harder when customers canβt find a space to visit the very businesses that keep the street alive.
If youβre a local business that would like to support this, please get in touch. It would be great if we could come together and send a joint email showing the support of businesses across the town and highlighting the impact this issue is having on both traders and customers.
Thank you π
Karen
