The husband of one of my brides arrived with a laundry bag full of an extremely trashed wedding gown. “We got married in a field and it got a little dirty” he said. YOUR NOT KIDDING I gasped !!!😳
Anyway it turns out that it’s coming up to their 2nd wedding anniversary which is cloth.
And he had come to the studio to see if there was anything I could do to her dress that he could give her as an anniversary present.
Fortunately the bodice was still in good condition albeit some patches of beads missing so I separated it from the skirt, added a small peplum edge and and some button detail at the back. Finished off with a beaded edge stolen off one of the skirt layers. I think she will be pleased.

The Alterations Studio, although it’s a rare occurrence that in the excitement and concentration of the first fit, I remember to take the ‘BEFORE’ photo..!!
I think in this image it’s quite obvious what needed to be done... aAaaaaaalott of taking in and shaping. We also took up the lace trimmed hem, and sewed bustle ribbons in to shorten the train for easier socialising later.
I think you will agree, on her final fitting all that effort was worth every minute, she looks absolutely ✨AMAZING✨ The Dress now shows off her beautiful figure perfectly.

Our lovely bride needed her beautiful gown taking up at the shoulders and taking the bodice in to ensure the illusion back and neckline had a lovely flat finish and to show off her fabulous shape. We also slimmed down the sleeves shaped the bust and took up the hems.
Lotttttts of work but a fabulous fit in the end.

We are all about body positivity at The Alterations Studio and our favourite part of our job is helping our brides to feel their best. There is so much pressure on girls to look a certain way on their wedding day, and so many girls get stressed out about finding ‘THE DRESS’ that it can actually be a very difficult time for some girls.
We believe that all brides are beautiful and the easiest way to look amazing on your wedding day is to be yourself, be comfortable and be happy! It’s easy to feel pressure from social media to look a certain way to be a’bride’ but from our experience it’s all about being you and expressing yourself and remembering what it’s actually all about...... LOVE❤️
