I create exquisitely crafted silk scarves, iridescent and richly pigmented, with a beautiful drape and the softest of handle. I weave and dye on the Isle of Skye in my custom built studio overlooking our croft and the mountains.

Oh dear, a squeek! The hot weather seems to have affected the wood on the loom where the be**er hangs causing this squeek.

The weather also affects the silk, causing it to become static if not under tension. It helps if I give the warp at the back of the loom a soft spray of water.

Anyone else need a spray of water to help with the heat?

Slow textiles and age old traditions for this heritage craft of silk handweaving.

Weaving on a this beautifully made traditional floor loom is a joy.

Listening to all the wooden parts moving and chattering together is a comforting noise, telling me that the cloth is slowly appearing and revealing it's beauty of hand dyed silk threads, glistening in the sunlight.

Every day is different, every piece is different, but the chatter of the loom remains a constant song in the studio and the background tune to my weaving life.
