In 1957, Lloyd Nolen and a group of fellow Texans acquired a P-51 Mustang aircraft for the sum of $2,500. This iconic plane, designated "Red Nose," became the first aircraft in the Ghost Squadron of the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) and is operated today by CAF Airbase Georgia.

The Fairey Swordfish shouldn’t have mattered that much in WWII — but it did. This fabric-covered biplane crippled the Bismarck, fought U-boats in the Atlantic, and outlasted the aircraft intended to replace it in frontline service.

The Mk.I Swordfish pictured here is W5856, the oldest airworthy example in the world. We were lucky enough to get a tour of her from Steve at Navy Wings, who helps keep this historic machine alive and flying.

Here is the one and only James May wearing our Supermarine Aviation Works T-Shirt while reviewing the new Ford Bronco. This T-Shirt recreates the ‘Supermarine’ Logo stamped onto the Rudder Pedals of early Spitfires. The Left Sleeve features Supermarine’s ‘S’ Flag Logo used during the Schneider Trophy Era in the 20s & 30s in which they repeatedly broke the World Speed Record.

The C-54 Skymaster of Col. Gail Halvorsen dropping chocolate bars via miniature parachutes to the people of West Berlin during the Berlin Airlift.

After World War II, during the Soviet blockade of West Berlin, Halvorsen, along with countless other Aircrew, volunteered to fly in supplies on humanitarian missions. On his own initiative, he began dropping chocolate bars to the city's residents, becoming a hero to West Berliners and folks back in the US. His operation gathered support, and went on to drop 23 tons of candy to the West Berliners. Known as the ‘Candy Bomber’, Col. Halvorsen passed away in February of 2022.
