Munro

The Moine Mhòr Summits:
- Beinn Bhrotain 🏔
- Monadh Mòr 🏔

The ‘Great Moss’ it’s translation, a high sub Arctic plateau. One of several routes to reach these mountain summits is crossing this plateau, although well worth it, potentially one to avoid in winter if ill prepared.

Home to an array of wildlife including arctic species like the Ptarmigan and the Dotterel. The latter Dotterel, ‘The Bird of Good Spirit’ is surprisingly tolerant of humans, being a mountain bird with a lack of regular human interaction.

Monadh Mòr is a massive whaleback of a hill with stunning views from the summit, including down the gorge to Glen Geusachan and the renowned Devils Point, and it’s neighbour Beinn Bhrotain to the south.

Ben Avon: 🏔

A stunning mountain like no other in the UK. With its granite tors across a vast plateau and long yet very scenic walk in from the Linn Of Dee, this is certainly one to tick off the list!

Generating its own weather, sending blizzards rolling down to the Dee and lower hills. This is definitely one to be wary of in adverse conditions.

Usually paired with Beinn a’ Bhuird, a fantastic Munro in its own right and the pair can be bagged in a long day hiking.

Although there are 30 munros within 20 minutes of Crianlarich, and technically seven within this particular mountain range, we’re focusing on these two as part of a nice manageable days walk - Although all seven are doable in a very long days climbing. The other five are:

* Cruach Ardrain - 1046m
* An Caisteal - 995m
* Beinn Tulaichean - 946m
* Beinn a’Chroin - 942m
* Beinn Chabhair - 933m
