I’ve thought about every one of these, and the answer is always the same. No. It’s not what Woolkind stands for, and some things are not worth making cheaper.

If only I’d known this before I started Woolkind 😅

I knew the making would take time. The knitting, the finishing, running everything by hand from a studio in Edinburgh. That part I was ready for.

What I didn’t expect was the community. A group of people who love knitwear and Woolkind just as much as I do. Not everyone wears wool all year round, but the people who find Woolkind really do, and honestly that never gets old.

It’s really lovely knowing you’re all out there.

This has happened a few times over the last week…

During my Fringe talk I’m meeting quite a few customers who have bought from me before - some have ordered multiple times. 💛

I was trying to explain to a customer who came at the weekend how special it feels and how rewarding it is to have customers like them. It’s easily the best feeling you get as a maker.

But I would like to find a way to thank long term customers for their ongoing support

Any ideas of what I should do or what you’ve seen from other brands?

All ideas welcome (within reason 😅)

A scarf that’s also a pencil? 🤔✏️

In May Pencil Me In Stationery Shop turned 10 so I decided to knit Sarah a wee present to celebrate. 🎂☺️

And the lovely Gillian from .hello popped in at short notice to help provide the perfect backdrop to the scarf. Thanks Gillian for all your help!

Something I’m really proud of at Woolkind is that nothing goes to waste.

Every piece is made to order or in small batches, which means I only ever make what’s been asked for. No excess stock, no leftover pieces sitting in a warehouse, just natural merino wool made into something that belongs to someone specific.

One studio in Edinburgh, making things by hand, with full transparency from wool to finished piece. That’s the only way I’ve ever wanted to do this.
