Ever wondered what your favourite wh**ky tastes like before it reaches the bottle?
This is your chance to get closer to the process, with a cask sample inside Bowmore’s warehouse on Islay.
No bottle, no labels and just wh**ky in the place where it ages.

If Lagavulin is already sitting on your wh**ky shelf, visiting the distillery is a chance to see where that bottle started its journey, from the stills and warehouses to the wh**ky in your glass. We can take you there on one of our Islay tours.

Want to understand wh**ky? Go where it ages.
A warehouse tasting puts you right among the casks, tasting wh**ky where it’s maturing rather than waiting for it to reach the bottle.

Yes, Islay has stunning beaches too. White sand, wild Atlantic views and not a wh**ky cask in sight. Although we’d still recommend fitting one in afterwards.

If you’re coming to Islay for wh**ky, go into the warehouse.
At Bruichladdich, tasting straight from the cask, surrounded by the wh**ky as it matures, is a completely different experience.
It’s exactly the kind of thing we look for on a Scottish Routes wh**ky adventure 🥃
Thinking about Islay in 2027? Scottish Routes tours are now open for booking.

If your idea of a good afternoon involves Islay wh**ky, sea views and a distillery tucked away on the coast, you’ll want Bunnahabhain on your list.
Our guide Moray’s giving us a glimpse from the veranda, but this is one you really need to see in person. Join us on an Islay tour and we’ll get you there 🥃 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

There are few better ways to spend an afternoon on Islay than wandering around Lagavulin Distillery before sitting down with a dram of the wh**ky that made this place famous.

More than 1,200 years old, Kildalton Cross still stands in its original location on Islay. Look closely and you’ll spot lions, snakes, spirals, peacocks and biblical scenes carved into the stone.
Dating from the 8th century, it offers a fascinating glimpse into Islay’s ancient past, and it’s one of the places we love sharing with our guests on our Islay tours.
