We offer a wide range of continental shoes for girls and boys. Our range of brands include Startrite, Hunter, Bobux, Geox, Ricosta, Ecco, Emu and Lelli Kelly. The shop is open 7 days a week, 9.30 to 5.30 every day except Sunday which is 11 to 5.

Another classic question here at M&M!

One of the questions we ask when trying to decide what we include in your school shoe selection is “patent or leather?”

And the answer is entirely up to you! Some schools are more restrictive and tend to discourage patent shoes so that’s an easy answer. Other schools leave it completely up to the parents and children.

For first time school shoe buyers it can be one of the harder questions. Overall we find that patent is harder-wearing as it is essentially a plastic coating over leather. Patent scratches rather than scuffs but that’s easily remedied by a good wipe and a once over with some patent restorer - kind of like a gel nail varnish but for shoes!

Leather tends to be a bit softer in general but it will scuff more easily. If leather is taken good care of by polishing and/or leather moisturiser then it really extends the life of the shoe and you get more for your money - if your child doesn’t have a growth spurt and goes up a whole size!

Regardless of what you choose we want to make sure the school shoes are comfy, have plenty growing room, and are a good fit on your child’s depth, width, and ankle.

Morning lovelies! ☀️

Hope you’re all having a lovely summer! Just a little update from us… we’ve now got most of our school shoe stock in and we’re ready to get going! 🙌

We’re still waiting on our Lelli Kelly and Primigi deliveries, but apart from that, we’re all set.

🦶 Tricky feet? 🦶

No feet are too tricky for us… some just take a little longer to find their perfect fit.

This year, more than ever, we’ve made sure we’ve got plenty of options. From the narrowest to the widest feet (D–H), supportive styles, removable insoles for orthotics, barefoot options, waterproof styles… we’ve really tried to think of everything.

We stock sizes from a tiny 7.5 right up to an adult 10, with everything from black trainers and traditional school shoes to boots, brogues and loafers.

⭐ A wee tip…

If you know your little one’s feet can be a bit tricky, I’d always recommend coming sooner rather than later. It means we have the best choice of styles and sizes to work with, and we can take our time getting the fit just right.

🎒 Their first school shoes… a big milestone for little feet. 💙

Starting school is such an exciting time (for children and parents!), and we know choosing that first pair of school shoes is all part of the adventure.

Our job is to make it as relaxed and enjoyable as possible. We’ll take the time to measure your child’s feet properly, help you find the right fit and chat through the best options for their school day.

To make it even more special, every child choosing their first school shoes receives:

A few things that are worth thinking about before you come along:

🧦 Bring the socks they’ll be wearing to school.

👞 Have a chat about the kind of shoe they’d like. Sometimes knowing whether they’re hoping for a strap, lace-up or something a little sportier can make the fitting easier.

🏃 Think about what their school day will look like. Are they always on the go? Do they need something with extra toe protection for lots of running and playing?

📚 Check whether your school has any footwear requirements or restrictions.

🎽 Don’t forget to see if you’ll need indoor shoes, PE trainers or plimsolls too.

🎒 And if you’re ticking off the school list, we also have school bags, lunch boxes, water bottles, gym bags and shoe labels in store.
