ACCESSION III | DEPT. ARTIFACTS AND SPECIMENS.

Exhibited here is SPECIMEN 03: A wraparound unisex style with high-profile temple arms, formed under a 700-ton press from a single solid 8mm thick titanium slab. The depth of the mould produces a temple profile unlike previous entries, with the 180-degree hinge mounted on the side rather than the corner. Signature Armature screws at the hinge points.

ACCESSION III | DEPT. ARTIFACTS AND SPECIMENS.

SPECIMEN 03 is Titanium Museum's unique approach to manufacturing Titanium eyewear with a wraparound temple: the entire frame was carved from a single, solid 8mm thick titanium block and then formed under a 700-ton press using a deeper mould than previous entries. This produces the style's characteristically deep temple arms, with the 180-degree hinge and armature screw mounted on the side of the temple rather than at the corner.

ACCESSION II

TITANIUM MUSEUM was a pioneer in creating titanium frames by carving them entirely from usually thick slabs of titanium ingots. The technical innovation in the field of development began around 2020, with public release starting 2 years later.

The process begins with a solid titanium slab, this ingot will be 8 or 10mm in thickness from which it's shape and contours is first milled on a 5-axis CNC down to a finish or 5 or 7 millimetres, depending on the design and the level of rustication included in the facade of the frame. These frames are then pressed inside specific copper plated moulds under extreme pressure of hundreds of tons to form the base curvature and shape. A specific holding jig is then created for each style to hold each piece for a second multi-axis CNC process to carve the more delicate details: the deliberate fractures, the openings for our screws and other custom decorative components... all cut into the now-curved frame.

Since the second Accession, every TITANIUM MUSEUM creation has integrated a custom hidden spring hinge mechanism enveloped inside the temple arm and held with our signature 'Armature screws' Which present a distinguished 'T' outline when viewing the frame from the side, a distinct signature feature of all TITANIUM MUSEUM's ACC.II and beyond entries.

Final artisanal hand finishing is then applied. On NOISE COMPLAINT The styles mostly use Japanese architectural paint... more commonly found inside elevator doors and museum lobby interiors throughout Japan... applied by hand in multiple layers and baked between coats, producing crystalline and crackled surface effects with a frozen velvet quality and subtle crystalline glints.

All TITANIUM MUSEUM works are created in strict limited editions of no more than 250 units. NOISE COMPLAINT is a limited edition of 200 works with no more than 50 pieces per colourway, with only a few pieces remaining available.

ACCESSION II | DEPT. ARTIFACTS AND SPECIMENS.

UTOPIOLOGIST is an almost round unisex frame, an interpretation of the style worn by the Utopiological Architect Le Corbusier, where here the shape is subjected to a different value: A brutalist makeover, with an inverted front of thicker front temple ends and damage effect CNC milled into the smooth facade. A brutalist imposition over a modernist form.

ACCESSION III | DEPT. ARTIFACTS AND SPECIMENS.

SPECIMEN 01 takes its name from its position as the founding entry of ACCESSION III. Like all Titanium Museum Specimens it is a deliberately damaged object.

The frames are milled from a solid 6mm titanium ingot. The damage effect is CNC milled directly into the body of the titanium around each lens opening, a controlled ruination built into the manufacturing process itself. In that same tradition, the architect James Wines and his practice SITE were producing buildings with deliberate structural damage: facades mid-collapse, intentional ruination in the otherwise classically designed frame shape. Secured with knurled pan-head screws and armature screws at the hinges.

SOFT BRUTALISM is a classic panto: unisex, wearable, quietly familiar in shape. The damage effect on parts of the frame and temple arms, a deliberate roughening of an otherwise conventional form.
