Beauty, hair, jewellery and styling all have a role to play in creating the feeling of a look. For this Sally-Kate | International Hair Artist and Jessica Rose kept things soft and luminous, glowing make-up with long, flowing hair swept away from the face, allowing natural movement through the lengths.

Against the texture and structure of the gown, that softness creates a beautiful contrast. Mother-of-pearl earrings from Freya Rose London echo the organic quality of the dress, adding another considered sculptural detail.

Pearls, mother of pearl and organic forms continue through the jewellery and shoes, creating a quiet thread between each element. Separate pieces, but considered as part of one complete visual story.

For me, the most beautiful accessories are those that take something from the gown and reinterpret it, extending the design beyond the dress itself.

A dress should come alive in movement, always changing and adapting in form. I love when a dress takes on elements of its surroundings - a great way to personalise your wedding dress and make sure it’s suited to your venue.
For this dress and location I love how the hem becomes like sea foam and the shores edge, and hidden jewels like found treasures as shells and pebbles.

Thousands of folds catch the light differently as the body moves, the vintage jewels and pearls glinting in the sun.

This dress began with the idea of creating texture rather than relying on an existing embellished fabric. Layers of ivory fabric are cut, manipulated and densely worked together, changing direction and density to build an irregular surface across the gown.
There’s something almost organic about it. Folds, ridges and ruffles that reveal themselves differently as the light moves across them.
And hidden amongst all that white, small pieces of vintage jewellery are scattered across the surface. Tiny moments of sparkle that you only really discover when you look closely.
I love details that aren’t immediately obvious.
Texture upon texture, with a little treasure hidden amongst it, as you might expect to find on a secluded beach.

Sun hat firmly fitted, bags packed and out the door. Out of office: ON

It’s been a long season of beautiful wedding dresses and wonderful brides, from the UK and much further afield. I’ve loved every minute of it, but now it’s time to give my hands, head and heart a little rest.

Although… let’s be honest, I’m not very good at switching off completely. I do love a good dress chat. So while the sewing studio is taking a little pause, my inbox and DMs will still be open.

There’s a precision to simplicity.

The upwards arching neckline (one of my all time favourite neckline styles) was designed to make the viewers double take. A small shift from a traditional strapless neckline, but one that completely changes the character of the dress. This upwards arc uses the angles of the body in reverse to create a beautiful framing of the décolleté. Different, but also a simple change for big impact, and I LOVE it!

Cut in textured raw ivory silk, wedding dress where every line has a purpose (Bride, Emma, works in interiors!) and the simplest details becomes the defining ones.
