Doll maker
I adore making toys and clothes so I have decided to combine the two. Rag dolls are available in many forms but I noticed that the clothes were not removable on many of them, so I chose to sew a 23 inch doll that can be dressed. My thoughts are that the buyer can choose what dress, shoes, tops and accessories they want. As the material is used up, new fabric designs will be added so t
hat a wardrobe of clothes can be bought over time. There will be boys as well as the girls to choose from and the hair shape, colour, style will be able to be ordered from a list. I can embroider names on the dresses - or even the body - to personalise the dolls even more. I could also make the clothes out of sentimental clothing, along the lines of the “memory bear”. As a bespoke rag doll there may be a bit of a wait, but often the best things are worth waiting for and I hope that will be the case with these dolls. All along I have been saying “dolls” and “rag dolls” but they are not toys - they are defined as a collectable. But they are definitely to be handled and cuddled and loved and dressed ...
