ANNOUNCEMENT
After very careful consideration, I have decided that this will be Barbarella’s last Christmas on Glossop high street.
There were many considerations including work/life balance but the main reason is that I would like to take the business in a slightly different direction and the cost and commitment of a physical shop won’t allow me to do this.
In short, Barbarella is going full circle with an exciting new website which has just launched and we will also be attending more vintage fairs, festivals and other similar events. These events are where most of our customers buy and as we have to pay to trade at them, it doesn’t make sense, financially to pay for a shop and staff cover when the fairs are (with a few exceptions) busier. So we will be doing more of these in 2020.
I realise that some customers prefer not to buy online but I also had to consider that many of my customers only buy from Barbarella online as they’re not local to Glossop. I will be offering free delivery on all orders in SK13, SK14 and SK22 plus free delivery on all orders outside of those postcodes on orders over £30. I am also looking for a suitable venue to do a local pop-up shop 2 or 3 times a year, so I hope I will get to see some of your lovely faces then.
I have to say that I have loved having the shop and if I was ruled by my heart, I would stay in the shop forever, but I have to be ruled by my brain (yes, I actually have one!).
So Barbarella Boutique will continue as a vintage inspired clothing business, online and at events with the same wonderful vintage inspired brands that you all love. We will have to stock less shoes however as storage and transportation of shoes isn’t the easiest to manage at vintage fairs etc.
I/we do have some other ideas, which I hope to share with you later next year if all goes to plan. The shop will be open as normal with new stock arriving weekly until early February. I have a beautiful selection of clothes and accessories lined up for Christmas. Gift vouchers can still be purchased and used in the shop or online. If you have a voucher that you haven’t used, please get in touch and I will give you a code to use online if you can’t get to the shop before we move.
I have met so many lovely people and made a lot of new friends through having the shop for the last 4 years (nearly 5 years including our time above Embellish) and for that I will be forever grateful. I am of course eternally grateful to the loyal customers who ‘get’ what I do and continue to help Barbarella grow and I dare say I will see some of you soon and in the future at some of our events. I have a long list of people that I would like to thank but I will save that for another day.
Barbarella Boutique-For Him will continue with regular additions to the range. All will be available for delivery and will be at most fairs/events etc.
