🌟 Joint Garment of the Week 🌟

This week we're celebrating not one, but two fantastic sewists! 🎉

These lovely friends started coming to classes together around a year ago, and it has been such a pleasure watching them both grow in confidence, develop their skills, and take on new challenges along the way.

The beautiful tops they're wearing are both their own handmade creations, and they should be incredibly proud of what they've achieved. From learning the basics to creating garments they can wear with confidence, they've both gone from strength to strength and continue to inspire us with their enthusiasm and determination.

One of the best things about sewing is sharing the journey with others, and these two are a wonderful example of how much fun it can be to learn, create, and celebrate successes together. ❤️

Congratulations to you both on your gorgeous tops and all the progress you've made over the past year. We can't wait to see what you make next! 🧵✨

🌟 Garment of the Week 🌟

A huge congratulations to Paula for creating this beautiful top! 👏🧵

Not only has Paula made a fantastic garment, but she also tackled pattern matching for the very first time and what a brilliant job she's done! ✨

Pattern matching can feel a little daunting when you're learning, but taking the time to line up those prints so they flow seamlessly across seams is a skill well worth mastering. Paula embraced the challenge and the results speak for themselves.

We're so proud of the progress she's made and love seeing our sewers build their confidence and try new techniques. 💙

✨ Garment of the Week ✨

This one is a little bit special 💛

Over the bank holiday, I had a lovely sewing day with my best friend Laura. The perfect mix of fabric, chatting, and creativity 🧵✨ It ended with her coming along to a Sew Social to put the finishing touches on this gorgeous beach bag ready for our upcoming holiday! ☀️

Even better… she made it using a quilt cover from Asda -how amazing is that?! 😍 Such a fab example of turning something simple into something totally unique and practical.

I absolutely love the story behind this make-sewing, friendship, and a holiday to look forward to 💛

A big shoutout to Gwynne -the newest member of our Monday class 👏

Gwynne has been diving into her fabric stash and made these lovely shorts for her nephew - how great are they?! 😍 Such a thoughtful make and a perfect way to use fabrics you already have.

We love seeing new faces getting stuck in and creating straight away 💛

And she’s not stopping there… next up: school shorts with a fly zip! Watch this space 👀

This week’s spotlight goes to Julie 👏

Julie brought in a pair of her own dungarees, carefully created her very own pattern from them, and then made this incredible new version - how amazing is that?! 😍

Such a brilliant example of creativity and confidence growing in the studio. Taking something you already love and turning it into a pattern you can use again and again is such a skill!

We absolutely love seeing projects like this come to life 💛

I volunteer throughout the year to help sew! If anyone could donate that would be amazing ❤️❤️

💜 URGENT: We need your help to fund essential materials 💜

We urgently need to purchase specialist red fabric to continue making reusable hygiene kits for the Days for Girls project.

We believe in charities helping charities and this is a global initiative to support girls who don’t have access to basic period hygiene products.

The material has to meet specific standards, so it must be sourced and bought by us directly, rather than just any red material donated.

Imagine not being able to go to school for several days every month.

Not because you don’t want to go
Not because you’re unwell
But because you don’t have access to basic hygiene products

For many girls, this is everyday life.

School is missed.
Confidence is affected.
Opportunities start to narrow.

Over time, something completely natural becomes a barrier to education and independence.

That’s why the Days for Girls project exists.

Charities and volunteers work together to create reusable hygiene kits that are distributed to girls around the world, helping them stay in school and continue with everyday life.

These kits are practical, but the impact goes much further.

They restore dignity.
They remove barriers.
They give girls more control over their future.

And it all starts with the right materials.

Feeling incredibly grateful after a special charity day at York Minster 💛

We spent the day sewing and creating reusable sanitary products for Yorkits - supporting women and girls in African communities who don’t have access to these essential items.

It was such a meaningful day filled with purpose, connection, and kindness. Something so small can make such a big difference to someone else’s life.
