Our favourite season has arrived and it is looking as dandy as F**K….

And yes, we might be biased, but autumn is hands down one of our favourite seasons for clothing. It’s all in the colours and textures, Rich browns, deep greens, warm rusts and all the classic autumnal tones.

Plus it’s all the layers, shirts, waistcoats, Jackets and coats, giving you so many more ways to put an outfit together and look way more elevated, basically autumn gives you an the chance to really dress up and not worry about sweating your bo****ks off.

We also feel our shop decor really lends itself perfectly to autumn tailoring.

A little update from the family,

Firstly, thank you so much for all the incredibly kind messages, well-wishes and support you have sent for Dad (Derrick). He has been genuinely touched by every single one.

Unfortunately mum (Ann) has also been taken seriously unwell, so both of them are currently out of action for the foreseeable future to focus on getting better.
The severity of Dad’s additional conditions is still being investigated, so for now rest is exactly what is needed. But we are confident he will be back with us as soon as he is able to be, after all he is far to stubborn and sociable not to be!

Thank you for your patience, kindness and understanding while we navigate what is a challenging time for our family.

We will keep you updated when we can, and in the mean time, please bear with us.

An important update from our family to yours.

As a family-run business, we wanted to share a little update with our customers.

Many of you who have visited the shop or met us at wedding fairs will know Derrick. Just before our annual leave, Derrick was admitted to hospital following an injury, which subsequently led to a serious blood clot and the discovery of some additional complications requiring urgent investigation.

Unfortunately, this means Derrick will be away from the shop for the foreseeable, while he rests and receives the medical care needed.

As we return from our break, we will be finding our feet again with a reduced team. We kindly ask for your patience and understanding during this time.

The good news is that we will be reopening on Tuesday as planned, with our usual opening hours of 10am-5pm, Tuesday to Saturday.

All existing appointments will continue as planned and should anything need to change we will communicate this with those affected directly.

Thank you for your continued support, and understanding.
As a family business, we truly appreciate the kindness and respect our customers show us, especially during times like these.

If you can tie your shoelaces, you already know the basic technique.

It is all in the way you tie it and once you know the method, it is much easier than it looks.

Save this for next time you are getting dressed up, and send it to someone who always ends up asking for help with their bow tie.

A little notice from the dandy threads team…

We are taking a much needed and well-earned break, which means the shop will be closed Friday the 25th Of September until we re-open on Tuesday the 6th of October. 

If you are getting married, have an event coming up, or simply need to get a suit sorted, please consider our holiday dates when planning your visit.

We will be back on the 6th of October, refreshed, recharged and ready for the last three months of 2026… (which is a good time to be planning for 2027 occasions).

A little housekeeping,

Please ensure anything needed during our closure dates are collected beforehand, once closed our phone lines will be unattended and emails only checked intermittently while we are away, we will get back to you as soon as possible after our return.

A little tip that could save your jacket and possibly your fingers…. If you are adding a button hole to your suit, don’t just stab a pin through it and hope for the best. 

There is a much neater way to position and secure it, with minimal damage to the garment and, importantly no rogue pin awaiting to attack you later. 

It is one of those tiny details that makes a difference when you want your suit to look properly considered.
Save this for the next time you need to attach a button hole. 

And be honest…
How many times have you pinned these the wrong way and stabbed yourself or someone else in the process??
Tag someone who needs to see this before they attack their jacket with a pin..

“I know exactly what I want.”

Five minutes later…

“Actually… I don’t like it, can we see other options?”

One outfit becomes two.
Two becomes five.
Five becomes absolute carnage and chaos.

By this point I have lost the will to live, the mannequin has been through three personality changes and the room looks like a tornado ripped through it.

And then…
“You know what? I loved the first one….

Of course you do,

Honestly, this is why having professional to guide you through the process matters.

Sometimes you need to see the options, try something unexpected and break a few rules, before circling back to the first choice.

So of course, bring ideas, change your mind. Try something a little different.
Just don’t be surprised or concerned if we eventually end up right back where we started… ;)
