How lovely does our customer Sharon look!

Sharon very kindly sent us these photos after her recent visit to Hats on Top, along with the message:

“Once again you pulled it out of the bag!”

And we really did get lucky with this one — the colour was absolutely perfect with her beautiful floral dress!

Even better, Sharon tells everyone about our little shop despite living all the way down in Northamptonshire. Word of mouth means such a lot to a small independent business like ours, so hearing that genuinely makes our day.

We absolutely love seeing the finished look after helping someone find their perfect headpiece!

The lovely Emily visited us ahead of the Ebor Festival at York Races, and after trying a few options we helped her settle on this gorgeous black and white combination.

And judging by these photos, we think she made a very good choice!

There’s something so satisfying about seeing the whole outfit come together — the dress, shoes, bag and, of course, the all-important headpiece. Emily looked absolutely fabulous and we’re so pleased to hear she had such a lovely day.

When a hat causes this much of a stir, we think it deserves a post of its own!

Our fabulous customer Sharon was last year’s winner and was nominated once again this year — wearing this spectacular bespoke top hat, designed and handmade especially for her by our Head Milliner, Elena.

Taking inspiration from Sharon’s striking black and ivory outfit, Elena created this dramatic sculptural design, adding flashes of vibrant orange to bring the whole look together.

And it certainly got noticed! Sharon tells us she was practically mobbed in York afterwards, with people stopping her to ask about her hat and wanting photographs with her.

We can see why!

A huge thank you to Sharon for trusting Elena to create something so wonderfully bold and individual — and for sharing these fantastic photographs with us.

We absolutely love seeing our hats out in the wild!

The lovely Lesley sent us this gorgeous photo wearing her hat from Hats on Top, and doesn’t she look fabulous? The vibrant pink is just perfect with her outfit — and although you can’t see it in the photo, she had the most fabulous handbag to complete the look too!

There’s nothing better than seeing one of our customers enjoying a special day in a hat made just for them.

Samantha recently sent us these wonderful photos from the wedding, along with the loveliest message:

“A big thank you again for the fabulous job you did on my hat. Can’t tell you how many compliments I received.”

She chose a beautiful soft green outfit, and we created a hat to complement it perfectly with ivory and green detailing. We think it looked absolutely stunning, and judging by all the compliments she received, so did everyone else!

There is nothing we enjoy more than seeing photos from our customers’ special occasions.

Kate visited Hats on Top looking for the perfect finishing touch for her outfit for a very special wedding at St Paul’s Cathedral in London. We worked with her to customise a fascinator that picked up the beautiful pink tones in her floral dress, creating a piece that felt completely her own.

We were delighted when Kate and Steve sent us these wonderful photos from the day. Kate looked absolutely fabulous, and it is always such a privilege to know that something we’ve created has been part of such an important occasion.

There’s something especially satisfying about giving a much-loved hat a completely new lease of life.

Diane came to us with an existing hat that she loved, but it no longer worked with the outfit she had chosen for her special occasion. Rather than starting from scratch, we completely refashioned it—reworking the trims, colours and overall balance to create something that looked as though it had always been made for her outfit.

The result was a beautifully coordinated look that suited Diane perfectly, and we’re delighted to say she was absolutely thrilled with the finished hat.

Thank you, Diane, for trusting us with your transformation. You looked fabulous, and it was a pleasure to help bring your vision to life.

Customer Spotlight | Joanne

There are some customers who walk through the door and immediately place their trust in you, and Joanne was one of those people.

Jo came to us looking for the perfect finishing touch for her daughter Kira’s spring wedding. Together, we created this bespoke headpiece, designed and handmade in-house by Lindsay to perfectly complement her beautiful powder blue outfit.

As with many custom pieces, there was a little time pressure involved, but Jo trusted the process completely and allowed us the creative freedom to make something truly special. Seeing the finished look on the day makes every late night and every tiny hand-stitched detail worthwhile.

Jo very kindly sent us these photographs along with the lovely message:

“Lindsay, I’m so lucky to have met you and so grateful for all your work under the time pressure! Can’t thank you enough.”

And perhaps our favourite comment of all:

“Everyone said to wear the hat! It was perfect!”

We couldn’t agree more.

Royal Ascot is officially underway, and as always we’re keeping a close eye on the racing fashion as well as the horses.

One of the standout trends so far has been the rise of sunshine yellow. From soft butter tones to bold, vibrant shades, yellow is proving to be the colour of the week. The Princess of Wales certainly turned heads in a striking yellow ensemble, showing just how elegant and impactful this cheerful summer shade can be.

If you’re feeling inspired, we have several beautiful yellow options in store, including both Lemon and Yellow shades from the Max & Ellie collection.

Another trend catching our eye is the return of the classic boater. Structured, timeless and effortlessly stylish, boaters have been appearing throughout the enclosures this year. Zara Tindall’s elegant bow-trimmed boater was one of the most talked-about millinery looks of the opening day and a wonderful example of how this traditional shape continues to feel fresh and contemporary.

For those who love this classic race-day look, styles such as the CH6 and SH6 from Max & Ellie offer a similar elegant silhouette that’s perfect for weddings, race meetings and special occasions.
