A quick snapshot of some of the vintage & preloved buttons coming with me to unravel… a festival of yarn Farnham Maltings Craft on 11th & 12th September.

There’ll be lots of boxes of buttons & trims for you to rummage through, so come and have a good old dig around and see what treasures you can find! You’ll find me in the Cellar room.

The ‘Haberdashery’ section of my website is continuing to grow and I’m delighted to now have a beautiful selection of traditional Austrian & German ‘trachten’ trims available online.

This genuine Kromberg jacquard trim is full of traditional details featuring edelweiss flowers, little hearts and intricate woven motifs in soft blue, cream, red and green, all set against a rich deep navy background.

It would make a beautiful finishing touch for jackets, waistcoats, skirts, dresses, bags and other sewing projects, adding a lovely touch of vintage Alpine character.

A little vintage summer beauty.

This delightful 1950s white cotton dimity is lightweight, breathable and beautifully textured, with a lovely woven pattern of delicate stripes and florals. Look closely and you’ll find pretty pink roses and little yellow floral accents scattered throughout.

I’m starting to sort out the buttons I’ll be taking to unravel… a festival of yarn and just look at these treasures! 😍

So incredibly beautiful — the more you look at them, the more you appreciate them. Each one is completely unique, and because they’re so beautifully large, they’re almost like jewellery.

Typically vintage, the quality is from a bygone era. These are large and beautifully thick, with a lovely weight to them — nothing like the wafer-thin shell buttons you often find today.

I’m not completely sure of their age. I sourced them as part of a larger vintage haul of mother-of-pearl, shell of abalone buttons, but I think they’re most likely from the 1970s or 80s.

I’ll be bringing lots of beautiful vintage buttons with me to Farnham Maltings Craft for unravel… a festival of yarn on 11 & 12 September. Come and find me in the Cellar room. I’ll have plenty of vintage button and trim treasures, as well as British tweeds, waiting for you! 😉

Fresh off the original roll and featuring a beautiful traditional design, another German vintage 1950s cotton beauty.
This fabric was originally sourced from a shop that closed with a huge vintage inventory, all untouched and carefully stored for decades. Most of the fabrics were still on their original rolls, perfectly preserved. You can even feel the original fabric sizing (stiffener) still present, giving it that lovely crisp feel you only get with truly untouched vintage fabric.

‘Mitzi’ is an ideal weight for dresses, skirts and blouses. And for the perfect finishing touch, why not team it with some of my beautiful vintage mother-of-pearl buttons, also sourced from Germany.

I currently have 4 metres of ‘Mitzi’ available online, 80cm wide.
