Essex Wildlife Trust Bedfords Park Nature Discovery Centre Essex Wildlife Trust run Bedfords Park Visitor Centre. It has a café overlooking the park, a great gift shop and fun events for all ages.

All profits go to the charity. Bedfords Park covers approximately 215 acres and provides a range of important habitats for wildlife. Of particular note are the ‘unimproved’ grasslands supporting a wide variety of wildflowers and insects; the mature woodland, home to all three species of woodpecker, nuthatches and other woodland birds; and the ponds and lake which provide homes for newts, toads and

waterfowl. The deer park to the west of the visitor centre has a herd of Red Deer in commemoration of the days when King John used this area as a hunting ground. These deer are managed by the London Borough of Havering. You may be lucky enough to see one of the wild Fallow, Roe or Muntjac deer that live in, or pass through, the park. The Visitor Centre, opened in June 2003, was built on the site of the former mansion and later café. It incorporates many sustainable features by re-using parts of the earlier building, using high insulation and modern roof design such as the suspended stonecrop roof. During school holidays and throughout the summer, the Essex Wildlife Trust Visitor Centre is open 7 days a week, 9am to 5pm. Otherwise closed Mondays, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, but open other Bank Holidays.

CENTRE CLOSED UNTIL END OF OCTOBER
Our Bedfords Park Nature Discovery Centre is closed for essential maintenance from:
Friday 10 September until the end of October 2021
We have scheduled this work to coincide with one of the quieter times of the year; and while nationwide issues with suppliers and staffing affect the smooth running of the centre. We will be back soon, with an improved centre to visit.
Bedfords Park remains open as per London Borough of Havering opening times.

Starting next week (9th September at 10am) we have a new term of Forest School Nature Tots at Bedfords Park - a weekly parent and toddler group where young children, aged 18 months to 5 years can explore, play and learn through nature.

Our popular Forest School Nature Tots groups are open for booking! Let your little one(s) play, explore and create in our woodland setting as summer slowly gives way to autumn.

Thursday or Friday mornings from 10am-12pm. Suitable for children aged 18 months to 5 years.
