Sewing (and all ‘craft’ in my opinion) is art because it carries stories that stretch across generations.
Every stitch connects us to the people who came before us—the skills they learned, the traditions they preserved, and the creativity they passed down by hand. Sewing isn’t just about making something beautiful; it’s about keeping knowledge alive, honouring our ancestors, and continuing a craft that has been shared from one generation to the next.
When we create, we’re not just creating with fabric and tools. We’re creating with history, memory, culture, and care.
Art isn’t only what hangs on a wall. Sometimes, it’s what we wear, mend, and pass on.
What does sewing mean to you?
