We’re incredibly sad to share the news that our friend and ambassador, Dave Abbott, has passed away.

Dave was one of those people who seemed to have a never-ending appetite for adventure. From getting up close with great white sharks to exploring the underwater world through his lens, he had an extraordinary career and a life full of remarkable experiences.

For all the incredible things Dave did, his love for the ocean was always at the heart of it. Whether filming marine life in some of the world’s most remarkable locations or freediving in the kelp forests of New Zealand with his son, he was in his element in the water, exploring and sharing the underwater world with others.

We feel very lucky to have known Dave and to have had him as part of the fourth element family. Our thoughts are with his wife, children, family and friends at this incredibly sad time. He’ll be deeply missed. 💙

Huge congratulations to Aaron Sanders who has just been awarded in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2026!

Aaron's image of an octopus concealed behind a veil of kelp was winner of the Animal Portraits category.

Aaron had been diving off Porthkerris Beach in Cornwall UK when he noticed the footprints of octopus suckers through a thin blade of kelp, and a single eye slowly emerging. ‘We remained perfectly still, watching one another with a seemingly shared curiosity,’.

His photo of a grey reef shark ensnared in an enormous ghost net received highly commended in Oceans: The Bigger Picture.

FOUND! After 4,700 years! 🏺

Off Kekova Island on Turkey's Mediterranean coast, archaeologists have discovered what they believe is the world's oldest known shipwreck.

The vessel is thought to have been around 10 metres long, sailing the Mediterranean during the Early Bronze Age, possibly on a voyage towards Troy or Crete.

At around 30 metres deep, the wreck site holds more than 30 ceramic storage pots and three stone anchors. The wooden ship has long since disappeared, but some of its cargo still contains traces of what it carried. Researchers are now investigating the residue to find out what was inside the pots.

“From the surface, the water was rippling and bubbling as though it were boiling. sent up his drone and confirmed it, a huge shoal of fusiliers below.

We headed straight over and dropped in next to the shoal. The fish were buzzing around as they fed on a thick plankton bloom. We knew this could be good so we waited in the water, it only a matter of time.

The mantas arrived, and they arrived in force, sweeping through effortlessly as the shoal parted around them. Mouths agape they too joined the feeding frenzy and feared on the plankton.”
