β€ Wedding dress storage boxes β€
These are a great little item if you're travelling abroad for your wedding or need to travel a fair distance to your venue.
These are really not required for use from bridal shop to home and home to seamstress.
They are definitely *not* somewhere you should "store" your dress on the lead up to the wedding or before your appointment with a seamstress.
We see so many people turn up with their beautiful dresses packed into a tiny box, they need to breathe and be free! A dress bag is more than sufficient for this. Hang on a curtain rail or the back of a door so the dress can be kept to its full potential. Hang in a room away from direct light and varying temperatures. Or lay flat on a bed in a spare room.
When considering purchasing a box - have a look around the bridal store, are all of their dresses stored in boxes to keep them safe? π€ If not then you definitely do not need them π
Unfortunately due to covid some of you lovelies have had your dresses stored in a box for over a year ππ It literally breaks our heart to see them like this. If you see this post and you have your dress in a box, take it out and hang it up - your seamstress and your bank account will thank you for it π€£ππΌ
When your dress is stored for long periods of time in the box it cause deep set creases which make it difficult to measure at your appointment as the dress needs to "hang out" or be professionally steamed. This is to drop the creases and for your fitting to be accurate. Obviously this ends up costing you more money and /or precious time, which we all know if a finite commodity on the lead-up to a wedding.
So to summarise......
π§‘- If you haven't bought your dress yet and you're not travelling you do not need a box, they are categorically not for storing before your big day.
π§‘- If you have already purchased a box and you are not travelling anywhere, take your dress out and hang immediately, the longer it hangs before your seamstress appointment the better.
π§‘- If you have already purchased a box and you are travelling only place in the box at the very last minute before you leave and make it the very first thing you unpack and hang up on arrival.
