Ladies and Gentlemen, How Do...

For those of you who may not know. I, your humble narrator was, way back in the very early 1980's plucked out of ( "the straight world" or "civilian life") while waiting in line outside The Paladium on 14th St. Cheetah Chrome and delivered to the Master himself...Stiv Bators! What transpired over that fateful summer, 'o my brothers (and sisters), is a much longer

story and needless to say changed my life and put me on a path I still travel today. Fast forward to the following fall and Stiv is back, w/ a new name, having lost the "s" ala "Keith Richard/Richards" and a new band. To make a long story long, Stiv, along w/ another "Founding Father of Punk", THE Brian James and Dave Tregunna (nee Treganna) ex Sham 69 and who I knew from the previous summers band "The Wanderers" formed the frontline of this new super cool and truly baaddaaasss band (read gang). Of the many, many things I/we learned from these guys, one of them was style. OK now is where we click back to the previous summer. Stiv Bators and The Wanderers all wore matching boots. Black Suede or Leather that zipped ip the back and had 4 straps and buckles. Referred to as "Wanderer" boots. Upon inquiring from where these killer boots came, I was told "Johnson's" on the Kings Road in London. Well as I didn't see my 15 year old self traveling there to visit this sacred place of cool boots and who knows what else, the band all lined up their boots for me to try on! My mind was spinning in this twisted reverse Cinderella story. I can't remember whose fit but a size was agreed upon and I was told by one of the nicest guys and greatest drummers you would ever know, Ricky Rock (Goldstein) that he'd send me a pair upon returning to the UK! I was the only guy in NY w/ THOSE boots (as I was told more than once at the old Peppermint Lounge). Jump ahead to 1982. The first Lords single and what I consider the quintessential Lords sound. Look how cool they look on the back cover. Wow! Then a short time later a couple of promo pics showed up and that was it. Dave wearing the "Voodoo" shirt. I'd never seen anything like this before. Then the fateful first Lords tour. Stiv and Dave primarily wore the T-Shirts and the Leather Gear of course. Well it took forever to find my first original LA Rocka! "Voodoo" T-Shirt, but when I did, I wore it proudly (you gotta wear the uniform of your gang, to quote Stiv). After a few years I finally made it to the UK and it was Mecca. Walking into Johnson's both in the fabled Kensington Market and THE store on the Kings Road! Needless to say I brought back a much as I could. This became a pattern over subsequent visits over the years and seeing the other 2 locations eventually turn into the location on the Portobello Road, conveniently down the road from where "those guys" bought me my first proper pints on that first trip in "The Portobello Gold". In the coming years there were too many adventures to go into here. Wait for the book...

But the part that leads us here, started in 2011 when Mr. Lloyd Johnson himself and I were introduced by the venerable Vicki Sheppard. Lloyd was looking for pieces to display in his retrospective; Lloyd Johnson, The Modern Outfitter, held at The Chelsea Space Gallery in 2012 . And boy did I have some for him. He chose more than a few (including my "Voodoo" shirt). And we've been friends ever since. While on a recent trip to the UK during one of our usual visits. I asked Lloyd to look through the archive and remarked that I'd like to start producing these amazing, classic t shirt designs and maybe some new ones and more along the way too! Lloyd: You should Joe! Me: Really? And here we are. I'm VERY happy and VERY proud to be allowed the privilege to add a chapter to the La Rocka! Story. And with that, I bring you La Rocka! USA

Hello Troops!
WELCOME to my first "Post Nuggets Post".
When I decided to put on what is bound to be "the shows of the year" I wanted to serve the music that I (and we all) love so much, and create one (or two)for "the books". I think we did just that! Thanks to all of you who attended! You helped make these the historic events they were/are!
In addition to TWO KILLER SOLD OUT NIGHTS, we also did a Session for 6 Music Riley & Coe show at the legendary Maida Vale studios which will air on the evening of Thursday April 25! Enjoy!
I know I called in a lot of favours and that some of the artists were "doing it for me", you know who you are and I Love You all for it.

Kevin Shepard who gave me the idea. And Rick Johnson for asking me to do The Cats Cradle gig last November that started this all for me! We just did 3 RSD events w/ Lenny to celebrate the release of "The Live at The Cats Cradle" Nuggets LP. BUY IT if you can find it! (I may be bringing some over to the UK on Friday!). And stay tuned for hopefully a Nuggets Live at The 100 Club LP as well! DV, Cap, Deb and Paul(most of all) you were missed. Maybe next time. Did I say next time? YES I DID! Morning Troops!
Absolutely great rehearsal day yesterday! And another today. Sounding fantastic and everyone is having a a lot of fun!
Sadly Dave and Captain have had to bow out. Dave has come down with the "tour lurgy" and Cap has a televised gig in Italy and is required for rehearsals. To say I am gutted would be and understatement. Along w/ Paul and Deb and everyone else involved, these are the people I wanted to build and share this experience with. And I will truly miss their presence for this historic event.
But have no fear "The Man From Nuggets" is here. And we'll still bring you a truly amazing and stupendous event!
