What a delight to bump into the wonderful Jayesh yesterday in a sunny Green Park.
Jay showed me round on my first day interning at after I won their design competition, and fitted me with one of their beautiful bowlers (or "town cokes" as I think they prefer to call them!).
Jay is still as warm, friendly and knowledgeable as ever - and now a TV star of course. As many of you will know, he is the hat repair specialist on
It's over ten years ago now but I will never forget my time at Lock.
It really was a life changing opportunity. And I was probably the oldest intern in London for four fabulous weeks!
But above all I remember the people. Makers at the top of their profession, always happy to share their skills and experience with humour and patience.

Tina, - it was such an honour to learn from you all.

So good to receive these gorgeous photos the other day.
No one's fault, but it was four years before this hat had its day in the sunshine!
It wasn't needed for the wedding it was originally intended for (long story, COVID related, but nothing sad, don't worry).
Then daughter Charlotte's wedding came along, Mary got back in touch - and we completed the hat!
How lovely to have such a loyal client - and it's also rather fitting that it was the beautiful Charlotte who originally put me in touch with her Mum!

Delighted to be heading over to the award winning this Thursday 27th June.
I'll be talking about my rather "wiggly" career path and persuading people to try on lots of hats!
I grew up round here and we just loved our visits to the museum. Especially the beehives in the back garden (yes, way back in the early 70s some people already cared deeply about bees).

There still time to pop onto the museum's website to book a ticket - and raise funds for a place that certainly holds a special place in my heart.

More new styles coming off the blocks.
Because they are made to order, these can often be made up in a different colour or the trim changed.
Something in mind? Just message me!

1,2. Navy straw, with gloriously wide teal ribbon, hand tied in a bow at the front (I love a bow at the front!). Black and white would also look fabulous - very

3,4. Soft grey downturned saucer with floral trim - not too big not too small. Chic, elegant and so many options for colours (and indeed non flowery trims if that's not your thing!)

5. Black pill box with a built in sculptural flourish. Thinking the hatpin could go larger...?

One of the joys of a made to order Panama is the choice of styles and trims.
Another is that will fit you!

Some images here of current and (I hope) future classics.
Swipe to see new styles:

1,2. fedora with a softer crown, slightly sloping sides and fashionably flat brim
3. New version of an old favourite - very similar to the bucket hat style but now with a lovely rounded cloche-like crown.
4. Hot off the blocks, a very flattering and practical Panama with an upturned brim. (apologies for the needle and thread and pink tacking stitches. I'm in the middle of sewing the ribbon onto the brim!)

I love this photo of from the Sunday Market
Jyothi and her friend Manasi visited my stand and had fun trying on all the hats.
Two lovely young women, with a true sense of fun and a strong desire to do good in the world - a pleasure to chat to them.
Thank you Manasi for the photo!

This Sunday I'll be at the beautiful oasis that is for their first Sunday Market of the year.
I can highly recommend lunch there (but you'd better book!)
Come and say hello and have fun trying on some hats πŸ‘’πŸŽ©

I'll be featuring my ever popular made to measure Panamas (with more new styles to try) and lots more - plenty of inspiration for weddings and the races!
If you have a hat of your own that needs a little bit of a refresh, do bring it along and ask about my repairing and remodelling service.
Or treat it to a new hat trim, available to buy on the day.

On the right is in one of her own creations.

A wonderful day at courtesy of (Thank you for sharing those tickets Elly and Peter!)
Colour in abundance, lots of beautiful hats and many interesting chats.
Thanks to ALL those making our day special on such a roasting day - whether sweltering in uniform (eg Darren and Sam here!) or slowly melting behind the bar or at the gates!
Also, in awe of those involved in the recent flurry of fine craftsmanship it took to change all those ER's to CR's

PS my own hat is called "Encore" - to be explained in a further post!!
