PUT THE PUB IN KNITTING IN PUBLIC DAY!

Join us for a day of knitting in public at pubs and coffee shops around huddersfield. crocheters and stitchers welcome, all venues also have alcohol free options.

Our yarn crawl route:

Arcade Coffee & Food , Byram Arcade 11-12:30
Start off outside Byram Arcade on the tables outside Arcade Coffee! Cakes and food are also available and Crafty Praxis is opposite and perfect to buy yarn from if needed! Arcade coffee has level access but no level access toilets.

Gorgeous pub with craft beers and pub snacks! We'll meet in the beer garden if it's good weather.

Queen St 2:15-3:30
Huddersfield's best alternative space with lots of drink options and food including lots of vegan options. We'll meet in the beer garden.

Church St 3:45 onwards
We'll finish off at Church St with your choice of coffee or cocktails from two Huddersfield institutions!!! The best cocktails in town and the fantastic locally roasted coffee, with food options available from Coffeevolution.

This week we have our monthly Huddersfield Stitch Social, we're still on tour while we don't have a hub and this month we're at Arcade Coffee & Food , join us this Thursday from 6-8.

Here's our upcoming socials for the end of April and may!

🧵 Huddersfield Stitch Social on Tour Weds 29th April 6-8 at The Sportsman Beerhouse , St Johns Road

🏳️‍🌈 Sew Q***r on Tour Tues 5th May at Amped , Zetland Street, Huddersfield

🧶 Holmfirth Stitch Social, upstairs at Harvey’s Bar/Kitchen Holmfirth , Towngate

Bring your own stitch based projects and craft among others! While we don't have a hub base in Huddersfield we'll be doing Huddersfield socials on tour! We hope you can join us! These sessions won't cost to attend but we hope you'll buy something from the bar to support the venues. All spaces will have alcoholic and non-alcoholic options and we'll change up the venues each time unless we find somewhere that suits our regulars, or hopefully find a new home! At the Sportsman and Harvey's we'll have our own space reserved and at Amped we'll have a separate room. At Amped there will be a band practice at the opposite end of the building, while I don't think it'll impact us I'd advise bringing loops or similar if background noise will impact you. Any suggestions for on tour spaces are appreciated!

We're reaching out to our network to inform our outreach model whilst we continue our search for a new hub space.

If you can spare some time to complete our 20 questions about different aspects of our work programmes we'd be most grateful!

En EPIC day with in Greenhead Park delivering Glow Up workshop alongside the Walk Wheel Ride event.

We delivered our Glow Up: Reflective Accessories workshop to 104 crafters!

Thank you to everyone who joined us and spent time making high vis embellishments to be safe and be seen whilst out and about.

This time last week we were hosting our big Goodbye Piazza Party! I don't think any of these pictures can convey just how much this room was buzzing. Over the past week people have told us what a good do it was, how much fun they had, and that we really know how to throw a party! On that day we had over 250 visitors, drank 18 bottles of fizz, sold over a grands worth of sustainable haberdashery and had so many good chats about how much Thread Republic has meant to people. If you were there, or if you've supported us over the last 3.5 years, we're incredibly grateful! People showed up in force to support us and often what we do is in small groups, with a hard working team of volunteers and volunteer directors, we've been told so many times how much this place has meant to people but seeing people show up this much for us was overwhelming in the best way. It was wonderful seeing a room full of people chatting away and seeing connections that have been made through our Textile Hub. Because we were so busy, we didn't get as many photos as we'd have liked, if you took any we'd love to see them!

So many of you have reached out with ideas on where we could deliver workshops and pop ups/empty units that may work for us. If you have any more ideas please do contact us. We want to make sure our next chapter starts in the right place, hopefully still in Huddersfield town centre so we can keep growing the community we've set the groundwork for. In between, we may have a mini temporary solution, but we'll let you know more as soon as we can. We'll also be in pack up mode soon, if you'd like to help us out with that drop us a message!

5 ways you can support us, whilst we don't have a physical space...

1. BECOME A MEMBER - join our thriving community of textile enthusiasts and get access to our private Facebook group, free entry to our socials and first access to our ticketed events.

2. JOIN OUR MAILING LIST - to keep up to date with all our news and hear updates on our progress as we search for a new home.

3. COME TO A STITCH SOCIAL - we'll still be hosting our monthly socials at new venues and would love to see you there.

4. SHARE YOUR CREATIONS - we'd love to see pictures of things you have made from supplies purchased at the Hub over the past 3 years. Tag us in your makes and we'll reshare!

5. WRITE US A REVIEW - find us on Google and leave us some feedback. Testimonials are a huge help to evidence our impact when writing funding bids!
