This month, we launched our latest report: When Funding Fails: The Crisis Facing Brain Injury Charities.

At the APPG on Acquired Brain Injury, our Chief Executive Luke Griggs addressed MPs, members of the House of Lords, brain injury charities and others from the neurological sector, setting out the severe funding pressures facing local Headway charities – and the devastating impact this is having on survivors and families.

He said: “There is still hope – but it will take the collective effort from parliamentary champions from both houses to make this happen.”

At the event, Chair of the APPG, and Headway Parliamentary Champion, Sir John Hayes announced his success in securing a debate in parliament on acquired brain injury. This will take place in September.

He also welcomed the announcement from the Government that they will establish an ABI Action plan focusing on specific actions to support brain injury survivors.

We were pleased to be joined by colleagues from Headway East London, Headway Sussex, United Kingdom Acquired Brain Injury Forum, The Neurological Alliance and our Parliamentary Champions, Baroness Morris, Wendy Chamberlain for North East Fife, Chris Bryant MP and Liz Twist – thank you for standing with us.
